I would like to use P2P programs where I am connected from, but unfortunately I cannot. Direct download is the only solution for me, so please do not leave direct downloads behind.

The hard drives are mapped to sda because of a kernel change, I don't think they're that way due to raidtools. Quote from the 3.3 Release Notes: As of linux kernel 2.6.19, all hard drives are seen as sd* through SCSI emulation. As such, our installer compensates for this and does its best to query ...

well, each linux is slighly different. Sabayon is based on gentoo so uses a program called emerge to install other programs. First you need to connect to internet from sabayon and then you can install it: sudo emerge --sync sudo emerge zsnes you do this from a shell, under system -> terminal program...

Why raidtools are installed by default? (solved)

Despite the raidtools being deprecated in favour of mdadm (http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.linux.gentoo.devel/45892) I wonder why raidtools are installed by default, because IDE devices are mapped to sda1 and so on instead of hda1 that is the correct device name. The problem is that there are some ebu...

As Wolfden mentioned read up on what "overlays" are in Gentoo on the gentoo website. That will help you understand what layman does. The second part of your question was, if I understood correctly: Can I turn my SL system into a Gentoo system. Well from what I have read in these forums it is fairly...

What is layman and what does it do? (solved)

I´ve realized that sabayon linux is not really gentoo, that is something like a mod based upon layman. The manpage "man layman" is not included in my 3.3-miniedition and I could not find any good reference about layman in the web, even in the sabayon wiki. What is it exactly? Can I uninstall it if ...
