I don't use evolution. But, I'll just remove it from runtime anyways (I am trying to use the most conservative method as a change from my "if it's not broken it needs more tweaking" mentality previously).

Re: Noob building Core 2 Quad, dual PCIe SLI vid, 4 screen sys

Chickpea, Thanks for the reply. I looked at the code and the reason they were using apt-get looked to be in order to install the java runtime and development kit? I figured there would be some way that I'd be able to figure out how to install these under sabayon. JRE and SDK are already installed o...

Re: knetwork manager is bugged.....

Joost, could this be a replacement for NetworkManager, such that NetworkManager could be removed completely? I DESPISE NM as it has a horrible memleak that always causes it to eat 100% of RAM and SWAP after about 2 days running, I have to restart HAL like every 12 hours otherwise my system becomes u...

Re: Noob building Core 2 Quad, dual PCIe SLI vid, 4 screen sys

I've sworn off buying MS code. I've run Linux before off and on, but not full time. I chose Sabayon to load the box with because of its reputation for speed as well as support for 64 bit hardware. The machine I'm building will be for stock market trading during the day, so it needs to be very fast ...

Re: Howto fix touchpad problems in Sabayon 4

Fitz: yeah, synaptics driver was heavily modified so that most of the configuration is no longer handled by Xserver, but by HAL, hence the new HAL policy that needed to be added to enable scrolling/tapping. This tripped up a lot of folks (me too). The upgrade didn't go so smooth. But that's ok, it's...

Re: Howto fix touchpad problems in Sabayon 4

Do an

Code: Select all

equo search synaptics
if you see that xf86-input-synaptics* is NOT installed, you need to install that driver. Also, installing ksynaptics might be a good idea too.

Re: Anyone Using Ext4 With Sabayon Linux-4?

As a follow-up, ext4 was recently marked stable in 2.6.28 kernel. SL4 uses 2.6.27 kernel (I hope you noticed). So be careful, it may have a few lingering bugs that 2.6.28 cleans up. Also, the 2.6.28 etx4 has not been as battle tested as ext3 or xfs so realize that you do run a (small) risk of runnin...

Re: Anyone Using Ext4 With Sabayon Linux-4?

I've used ext4 since SL 3.5.1, now with 4.0 without issues.

Can't wait for btrfs! (Not that I will notice any difference, not running an exabyte partition or anything like that, just like the idea of being bleeding edge and reckless  )

Re: Howto fix touchpad problems in Sabayon 4

strange. For whatever reason, the upgrade uninstalled the synaptics drivers and ksynaptics. Installing them solved my issue.

Re: Howto fix touchpad problems in Sabayon 4

Sorry, joost, no it doesn't at least, not in all cases. I am having the same issue. xorg.conf has no corepointer settings or mouse settings in Serverlayout section. Maybe that's an issue? Tried using xorg.conf.original and xserver doesn't start. Tried using xorg.conf.sabayon, doens't work either. Af...
