Brother Laser Printer Problem [Solved]

I have been using a Brother laser printer model HL-2270DW successfully with Sabayon for many months (Sabayon 7_AMD64_Gnome3_Nvidia graphics). Lately it refuses to print from most applications. When I print, Gnome 3 pops a notifier at the bottom of the screen, "Printing (whatever)" the activity light...

Re: Gnome 3.2 running in "Gnome 2"-Mode after update [Solved

I downloaded the latest updates (5 Oct. 2011) and am now running in "standard experience" Gnome 3.2.
Thanks for the help, I really missed bumping that upper left corner with my cursor. :D

Re: Gnome 3 Hosed by Latest Update

Sorry, I was actually trying to address the original posting from gstrock who does have symptoms like mine. I have had some problems in the past with suspend, and usually disabled it in the BIOS ACPI setting. Sometimes changing the ACPI setting to "S1" (only) helped. I think Sabayon comes with vbeto...

Re: Gnome 3.2 running in "Gnome 2"-Mode after update

I have the same issue on my 64 bit install. Gnome is in fallback mode, and if I go to system info -> graphics, and force the switch, at the next login I get an unrecoverable error warning, and the switch returns to fallback experience. Another interesting feature is that if I leave my box unattended...

Re: Gnome 3 Desktop - After Updates

Yes, I checked, x11-libs/gdk-pixbuf-2.24.0-r1 and it was installed. Since you had reason to suspect it, I re-installed it, and now it looks like the problem is solved. You gave me a 5 star answer in record time. Now I just have to figure out what caused the package to install incorrectly. :D Sabayon...

Gnome 3 Desktop - After Updates [Solved]

Not sure where to start. Just installed all of the latest updates from the weekly repository. Sulfur (RC59) reported no additional updates. I rebooted the box and all was normal through the user login. The desktop came up beautiful blue with no wallpaper, with my previous icons displayed as blank sh...

Re: Time and Date Applet in Gnome 3

gksu authenticates properly, but systemsettings must not be the correct way to call the time/date settings.

[email protected] ~ $ gksu systemsettings
sh: systemsettings: command not found

It is very likely that future Gnome 3 releases won't have this issue, no problem (for me)to wait and see.

Re: Time and Date Applet in Gnome 3

I am not sure if going "root" would change anything. The applet asks for the administrator password to authenticate before changes can be made. The administrator password is the same as the superuser password, and root password, so the only difference is the user name that is logged in. Usually, log...
