Re: XBMC crashing

Ok, I will try disabling PulseAudio. PulseAudio does give a good GUI for detecting and selecting the HDMI sound. I used Alsa on another system, and it was very rudimentary. There were a lot of "phantom" devices listed, and I think maybe each was one channel of the 7.1 channel audio output. Thank You...

XBMC crashing [Solved]

After many successful uses of XBMC, it is now crashing. Maybe "abnormal termination" is a better description. The XBMC starts as expected, and navigation is normal. When I play either a video or a sound file (mp3) the file loads and starts playing. After about three minutes, the program exits, and r...

Re: Radeon 7500M/7600M Series

I have a Radeon 7850 GDDR5 video card. I got a lot of the same errors you are getting. Something in the process breaks the xorg server. All I did was re-installed Xorg Server using RIGO, and then my card worked (using the steps anomaly65 posted). I still get the funky multiple graphics if I drop to ...

Re: step-by-step solution for most users with ATI cards [Sol

I just installed a Radeon 7850 a few days ago because I wanted to use it for GPU computing. I thought I was going to pull it back out because every time I switched to the proprietary drivers, I went "black screen". I was a little concerned my card was not supported, but this worked great. Considerin...

Re: unhandled exception running gparted

No, the administrative and the user password are different. The PW box asks for the administrative password, so that is what I entered. For a test I tried entering my user password, and got, "Incorrect password... try again".

Re: unhandled exception running gparted

I tried gksu, but about the same result. I think the "locale" file is incredibly picky about letter case and punctuation. Sabayon ~ $ gksu gparted [graphical password box popped up, I entered the administrative PW] (process:7298): Gtk-WARNING **: Locale not supported by C library. Using the fallback...

unhandled exception running gparted

When I try to run gparted in terminal as su, I get this: sabayon# gparted (process:32227): Gtk-WARNING **: Locale not supported by C library. Using the fallback 'C' locale. ====================== libparted : 3.1 ====================== (gpartedbin:32227): glibmm-ERROR **: unhandled exception (type st...

Re: I'm getting "Black Balled" [Solved]

Yes, very hard to visualize what I described, but you are completely correct. I installed the Font Animal Tracks and now I have a black sphere with the chicken foot, a proper logo for Sabayon. Honestly Wolfden... All the time (years now) I have thought the foot was from a velociraptor. A very speedy...

I'm getting "Black Balled" [Solved]

Curious Question... After startup, I raise the cover page, and I am at the login screen as expected. Next to the title Sabayon, (on the left end) is a little black sphere (ball) with a lower-case letter "q" inside of it. I clicked on it and it does not seem to do anything, so I guess it is a graphic...

Re: Gnome 3.6

When Gnome 3 went prime time, I thought it was pretty useless until I located the right combination of extensions to make it productive for me. Now I am wondering what I am going to do with it. I can't get anything done in the usual way, with Nautilus being the worst part of the problem. What if I w...
