Re: TP-LINK wireless adapter failed after kernel upgrade

I looked at file /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf while using the Belkin adapter, and then also after rebooting with the TP-Link adapter. Always the same, and the information is correct. Just to check I entered a different encryption key, and the file updated to the new key. The key is in pla...

Re: TP-LINK wireless adapter failed after kernel upgrade

The drivers are certainly working. No problem until I upgraded to kernel 3.9r-3. I was trying to find where my upgrade was broken, because perhaps others had the same problem. No others have reported this problem, so I think we will try a fresh install and see what happens. Fitzcarraldo has already ...

Re: TP-LINK wireless adapter failed after kernel upgrade

The fix for the regulatory domain you posted works well. According to dmesg, the adapter came up as CN and then CRDA was called and it was switched to the US. I have found that the TP-Link adapter "associates" with the wireless router, and I can read the signal strength from it. The problem seems to...

Re: TP-LINK wireless adapter failed after kernel upgrade

I too noticed the problem with the wireless domain, but did not know what to do about it. Thank you for explaining it so well. I am not in China so I changed the code using the instructions in your blog. I did not have net-wireless/iw installed, so somehow I missed that, but have it now. I have the ...

Re: Celestia and Googleearth doesn' start

I have ATI Radeon HD 7850 graphics. To get Celestia working I used the steps Fitzcarraldo listed above. I also had to do one more step to keep Celestia from crashing. In a terminal screen, (as SU) I entered: # eselect mesa list # eselect mesa set 32bit sw classic The idea being to switch mesa for 32...

Re: TP-LINK wireless adapter failed after kernel upgrade

Yes and no, The /etc/udev/rules.d/80-net-name-slot.rules file did change the names back to eth0 and wlan0 as expected. I still have the 3.7.0 kernel installed, and if I boot to it, the TP-Link wireless adapter is fully functional. When I boot the 3.9.0 kernel it does not work. I am thinking a bug re...

Re: TP-LINK wireless adapter failed after kernel upgrade

My last re-install did things differently than what I am used to. I saw packages and archives I do not remember seeing before being "multi-fetched" and loaded. After switching kernels to 3.9.0, I got many more packages, and then when I finished the switch with equo deptest, I got a great many more. ...

Re: TP-LINK wireless adapter failed after kernel upgrade

Yes, but of course, very extensive. I will omit the portions that do not pertain to network interface hardware, and the network management modules. The most suspicious entry is almost halfway down the, /var/log/messages entries. It says: "May 7 18:37:08 tuxbox NetworkManager[6108]: SCPlugin-Ifnet: F...

TP-LINK WiFi adapter failed after kernel upgrade

I have been using a USB connected wireless 802.11n adapter with my desktop PC. After upgrading the kernel (using kernel-switcher) it will no longer communicate. I tested it with another OS, and it is functional. I also tried using another adapter (Belkin Components F5D7050 Wireless G Adapter v4 - US...

Re: XBMC crashing

Yes, disabling PulseAudio did fix the problem with XBMC exiting at the start of a new file. Unfortunately, I now have two more problems that were not there before. The first is a very odd "staccato" audio, that sounds like what I used to get in Microsoft Windows when the interrupts conflicted. The s...
