I gave the lm_sensors package another go and emerged the latest version before I started. This time it didn't corrupt any BIOS settings this time, but didn't find any useful sensors either, just EEPROM entries like SPD: Next adapter: SMBus I801 adapter at 18a0 (i2c-0) Do you want to scan it? (YES/no...

Many thanks Fitzcarraldo, here are my results. modprobe thermal (in rootconsole) gives me back only: FATAL: Module thermal not found. so I tried emerge thermal next, which tells me after some minutes of calculating dependencies: emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy "thermal". It is not to be foun...

Thanks, too.
make your selection like it is asking you too
Means I have to find out what these two files are good for, before I can come to a decision, which choice is convenient in this case. This I had already suspected.

If you want to update all of your config files then use etc-update. etc-update After you do that it will quit bugging you. Just tried this. Strange result: etc-update Note: The repository at /usr/portage/local/layman/sabayon does not have a profiles/repo_name entry. This can reduce the functionalit...

Hello WarraWarra, If the router / modem is setup to have the same ip for your wireless connection then no problem. Well, this depends. Most probably not. These are differnt networks providing different IP ranges. I had do chuck out networkmanager, since it kept deleting the gateway info for eth0 eve...

ACPI doesn't read temperature and fan

Hello, I could need some assistance again, since I am still quite new to Linux. My ACPI works fine in general: the folders /proc/acpi/ac_adapter /proc/acpi/battery /proc/acpi/button /proc/acpi/embedded_controller /proc/acpi/processor are fully populated and file contents reflect the current system s...

Well, WarraWarra this was actually the GPU temperature from the readings in nvidia-settings window. Nvidia drivers tell me they will throttle at 105°C, just as in MS-Win. But I found a notacable loss of fps already when temp exceeds the 80°C mark. Frame Rates were even lower, before I activated ha...

I wonder if anyone can get a temperature reading on any or all temperature sensors in their pc's when this happens. Could be warm to hot video ram ? that add's to this problem. At least the black window contents aren't related to any temperature reading. This happens only when a specific number of ...

In order to complete the sleep and wake process, it is a good idea to put all the services into the file /etc/powersave/sleep which get stopped by unloading the modules. Some of them get restored automatically by other programs (so networkmanager will restore ethx even if they are not listed here), ...
