Re: Sabayon hangs on shutdown

I've had the "hanging shutdown" problem a few times, and, one time, I discovered that VLC had pegged Core 0 at 100%, even though VLC was not doing anything...just an icon on the panel. VLC always stays on the panel once it's started. I could not kill the VLC process (PID), so, I decided to reboot, a...

Re: "eselect kernel list" shows nothing

Change the word "kernel" to "bzimage"
It seems eselecting the "kernel" has been deprecated.

Re: How to disable NVIDIA 358 and use 340?

Will the mask # equo mask ">x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-340.96" survive a reboot and/or a subsequent upgrade? I put the mask in: /etc/entropy/packages/package.mask however, I still can't get a gui with the nvidia driver. The default driver (x11-xorg) works well since I downgraded the kernel to 4.3.3 ...

Re: Gnome-terminal do not open and Libreoffice does not chan

Did you check the language settings?
In LIbreoffice, go to "tools" > "options" > "language settings".
Beyond that, I have no other ideas.

Re: Gnome-terminal do not open and Libreoffice does not chan

I think you just installed the language package. I think you still have to install libreoffice.
equo install libreoffice

Re: My Problems

I don't know anything about games, but my kid was here visiting me for a couple of weeks and wanted steam. I showed him the package manager and he installed some stuff, and had it running in no time. Here are the packages he installed: games-util/steam-client-meta-0-r20150828 games-util/steam-games-...

Re: Preserved libraries

This question came up some time ago, and the advice at that time was to ignore the message about preserved libraries. It was suggested that the preserved libraries would be removed automatically in subsequent upgrades.
So, unless that "directive" has changed recently, do nothing.

Re: Best way to remove packages

I can tell you how I remove programs. It may not be the most thorough, but, it is certainly very safe. I don't use rigo, so, here is the command line method I use. equo remove targetpackage --pretend If the result of that command shows one, and only one package to be removed, I repeat the command, b...

Re: VLC damaged, after last updates!

I had the same thing happen to me. I tried reinstalling it, but that didn't help. I tried installing smplayer, but that didn't work either. Then I noticed that mpv is installed (by default) in this version on Sabayon (November version). That works (and is in the repository if you need to install it)...
