Easy way is have the bookmarks extracted and use a Yahoo or Google account to store them as a backup.

Open IE
???
Extract bookmarks to desktop as bookmark.html
Open Yahoo or Google account and save
Boot to Linux
Open Firefox (FF)
Open Yahoo/Google and save file to desktop
Import bookmark.html

I have the same words too (thank you) I wanted to use gentoo but was put off with the install process. I too saw it on Distrowatch 2 weeks ago and was blown away. Been using Slackware and wanted something else for my desktop.
