Re: Installation of 64-bit 5.3 hangs on Acer Aspire 5745G

I think I'll give up on the 64-bit version and go back to the 32. After mucking around for hours I finally got Gnome to install, only to find that when I try to run repository update, it falls over and complains about checking the database integrity. I don't know why the 64-bit builds are such a pai...

Re: Installation of 64-bit 5.3 hangs on Acer Aspire 5745G

I've found that apparently it's not happy with the Nvidia GeForce GT 330M hardware. When I originally tried Sabayon on this new laptop, I installed the 32-bit Gnome version, and it ran right out of the box - sweet. Called up the Nvidia splash screen, ran in full resolution mode, Compiz ran like a dr...

Installation 64-bit 5.3 hangs on Acer Aspire 5745G [Solved]

I'm trying to install the 64-bit version on an Acer 5745G i7-core machine. With either the Sabayon_Linux_5.3_amd64_G.iso or Sabayon_Linux_5.3_amd64_\K.iso images, the system boots, runs the installer for a while, and then hangs the system (totally stalled with a black screen although the power is st...

Re: hping binary "without tcl scripting support" problem

If I use emerge, the system doesn't recognise the package:

emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy "net-analyzer/hping".

but equo does.

hping binary "without tcl scripting support" problem

I've installed hping and gotten this message when I try to run it.

Editing make.conf to set the tcl USE flag, I've downloaded the source and unpacked it, but after running "configure" and make, the compile crashes after a short while.

Can anyone suggest a solution that will enable hping to run?

Re: Can't connect to Windows 7 share from Sabayon 4

OK I've upgraded the laptop to 5.1-r1 (and it's very slick indeed) but I still have the same problem: trying to do a file share from the Windows 7 machine, the authentication box pops up, I enter the user name and password used for booting up the Windows 7 machine, and it just keeps going in circles...

Can't connect to Windows 7 share from Sabayon 4

Hi; Have a little problem here which is driving me nuts - I know it must be something simple but I can't see it at the moment. I've built up a laptop with 4.1 and tested it out with an XP box by setting up a file and printer share on the XP box. When I go to add a file or printer on the laptop, the ...

Re: How to install GRUB onto nvidia fake raid setup?

Hmmm... so if, under XP, I create another partition (#2), copy all my XP stuff over to that, then boot the LiveDVD, use GParted to shrink the existing partition #1 to say 100MB and format *that* as FAT, I can get away with this so I don't need to nuke everything and rebuild my XP installation from s...

How to install GRUB onto nvidia fake raid setup?

I've built up a new system with an ASUS M3N78-EMH HDMI motherboard. I've installed twin 500GB SATA drives and set up the nvidia controller for RAID1, installed XP on the first partition, and it runs as it should, using the nvidia RAID driver. After getting that going successfully, I've booted up off...
