KDE Widget to display Intel i7 clock speed?

When I was running Gnome, I had installed a monitor in the system tool bar that displayed the current clock speed, as well as let you select the priority (performance, on-demand, etc.). After I had installed KDE, that bit of Gnome broke (even though the two window managers shouldn't interfere with e...

Re: Wicd broken, cannot get to authorise on WPA

Network manager worked fine under Gnome, but with KDE, it just wouldn't connect at all - authorisation never went. Perhaps later tomorrow I might remove Wicd and put networkmanager back and see what happens. At least if I need to go back to Wicd again, I know the trap to avoid now.

Re: Wicd broken, cannot get to authorise on WPA

Damn that's annoying - I was searching for networkmanager , and it's in the system as NetworkManager ! So I've removed that and added wicd to rc-update. It's now up and running. Thanks for the prompt :) By the way, any idea why NetworkManager never worked? When I first saw it I thought yeah, it also...

Wicd broken, cannot get to authorise on WPA

I've installed KDE on my Gnome laptop (Acer 5745G) by pulling in kde-meta in Sulfur. WiFi wouldn't work, and I read somewhere that KDE didn't play nice with networkmanager , although Gnome had no problem. So I removed networkmanager and installed Wicd . Everything worked fine. Then I set KDE as the ...

Re: Installing RAID1 onto MSI H55M-E33 motherboard?

I did, but by taking an alternate route: I gave up using the Sabayon installer and just installed a full Gentoo system instead. No matter what I did with Sabayon, I couldn't get it to work with this motherboard and RAID, and I'd run out of time.

Installing RAID1 onto MSI H55M-E33 motherboard?

I'm trying to get the 64-bit Gnome version of 5.3 onto an MSI H55M-E33 motherboard (i7 processor, 8GB RAM, 2x1.5TB Seagate SATA drives) using RAID 1. Whenever I try the installer, it stops with an error message stating that sdb has BIOS RAID metadata on it so it'll just get ignored. Try as I might, ...

Can't ping a Sabayon box

I've got a small network of Sabayon boxes connected to a Shorewall firewall box. The rule set for ping on the firewall is: Ping/ACCEPT all all The Sabayon boxes can ping anything on the Internet, but they cannot ping their neighbours on the same network and the firewall can't ping the Sabayon boxes ...

Re: Installation of 64-bit 5.3 hangs on Acer Aspire 5745G

Just a quick update: today, I wiped the 32-bit version off the machine, installed using the daily ISO dated September 5, 2010 and compiz rocks. :D

Re: Installation of 64-bit 5.3 hangs on Acer Aspire 5745G

No, it's an i7 720 CPU, so it's definitely 64-bit. I've given up on this for now. Even booting up with the new dailies, I can't get the compiler to compile the code for the nvidia drivers (ANY of them) which is why I'm having the compiz issues in the first place. I've gone back to 32-bit for now (wh...

I'm running Gnome. I'd like to keep pulseaudio if I could. How did you modify the file to keep Skype happy?
