Re: Looking for successful input hook for ventrilo

Ventroiloctrl is an amazing script.... when it works. One of the main complaints about that script is that it just doesn't work in a lot of environments. I have resigned myself to only have the option of talking on Vent when I'm either in the Ventrilo window, or in some other program in the Wine env...

Re: Welcome to the Four-Point-Oh Portal

frankly from what i've seen of kde4, i'm apauled it's even considered... or was even created in the first place... maybe i'm just missing something really cool about it... but it looked to me from my experience like utter squanderous bloat abandon, and missing features that 3.5 has! 3.5er all the w...

Re: Installs in Wine???

I am using Konsole. So far I understand that Konsole is the best way for installing/using most of everything in Sabayon. Well, yes and no. All the regulars perform system administration from the Command Line Interface. Once you know your way around the shell environment, there are many more operati...

Re: Installs in Wine???

The file /etc/fstab is standard across all distributions. In your fstab, make sure the line pertaining to the DVD is set as such: /dev/hdc /mnt/cdrom auto exec, unhide, defaults, noauto,rw,users 0 0 The 'unhide' option is crucial in this case, as the formatting of the DVD is very different from what Bl...

Guild Wars

This just in- Guild Wars works fantastically in Wine 0.9.61! Under older versions of Wine, certain people had a lot of problems in enabling DX9 for the game in the Wine environment. While this situation was slowly being rectified, it seems to have completely disappeared with the new release. With DX...

Re: portage vs entropy

I wished this Meme would die. Before, Gentoo had deservedly earned the reputation for speed optimization. However, the Gnu team has included the gcc optimizations that the Gentoo devs created, so there is no difference anymore, unless if you turn into a "Gentoo Ricer". ;) The performance now comes f...

Re: WoW in Wine

Keeping this thread updated, as WoW seems to be the game that most people who are new to Linux can't leave behind, and we, as an OSS community, must not fail to forget. (Blizzard has over 10 million subscribers, after all...) In the new version of Wine, WoW works flawlessly! Wine 0.9.60 should be ab...

Re: How to Update Compiz Fusion

For those who may have a problem in updating CF in Sabayon Linux 3.5 Loop 2, hopefully this post will help you out. Since I had a "virgin" install of 3.5, I was twiddling around with a lot of the packages that came with it. When it came time to update CF via the wonderful script that trench had made...

Re: Wolfenstein Enemy territory AMD64 open gl error?

When it comes to any kind of free support, do not expect instantaneous gratification. Especially on the forums. We are volunteers, with expertise in different areas. Even in IRC, it may be some time before a person with the solution to your particular problem logs in and is ready to help you. The pr...
