Re: Help with paths to installation packages for CoreCDX ins

I got this page to work for me:

https://packages.sabayon.org/

& it is great. I wish I had off got it to work previously. (perhaps I denied it cookies or something, I don't know, I'll put it down to tiredness...)

Now I can mark this thread solved (I think).

Re: Help with paths to installation packages for CoreCDX ins

Thanks for your reply wolfden.

I'll check out your input re. dependencies, & I am grateful for it.

As far as vlc is concerned I've discovered that it is purely to do with the dvd drive, so it isn't vlc's fault its device driven. I'm sure when I look further into that I'll discover an obvious reason.

Re: Help with paths to installation packages for CoreCDX ins

Interesting... no one is interested in helping me, I surely must be displaying a lot of ignorance. Oh, well. I had to get around the problems by installing Xfce4, it bought in the previously missing dependencies & now all packages work properly. I can go with Xfce or Openbox, they are both pretty mu...

Re: How to play DVDs

I installed vlc on my first sabayon installation in over 5 years & it did not include libdvdcss? I haven't investigated why, though I did install it straight afterwards anyway. Whether it is that way in this distro due to U.S. corporate politics, or what, I have no idea? Some other distros (Ubuntu c...

Re: Help with paths to installation packages for CoreCDX ins

Is there a way on the command line to discover a packages dependencies?

If I have this information I should be pretty well set.

Re: Help with paths to installation packages for CoreCDX ins

I'm wondering whether I should look through the Gentoo Handbook to get the info that I need to properly set up my CoreCDX system? There really isn't much in the way of specific documentation for the job (that I've found anyway) in the Sabayon wiki. With Arch you've got the brilliant Beginners' Guide...

Re: Help with paths to installation packages for CoreCDX ins

I got this page to search for me & it gave me more clues for paths & equo : http://packages.gentoo.org/arch/amd64 I just installed worker-2.18.1 it is the superseded version, but it is certainly good enough for me. :D [edit:] I just found this page: https://wiki.sabayon.org/index.php?title=En:List_O...

Re: Help with paths to installation packages for CoreCDX ins

Hi ratcheer, nice to see you here. ;) The only reason I was using that gentoo wiki page was in an effort to find out what path to give equo so I could/can get hold of the packages that I need to install, (I MUST have Worker) to get my new system to a comfortable & useful state. After which I'll just...

Paths to installation packages for CoreCDX install? [Solved]

Hi, I'm in the early stages of setting up a CoreCDX install. I've installed & partitioned how I want, am running Openbox, & as of this edit, I have installed Tint2 (not set up yet), Leafpad, PCManFM (though I really want to be using Worker?), Sakura, ROXterm, Firefox & all the add-ons I use with it....

Re: Sabayon Linux Forum Search Engine Plugin for Firefox

Good golly my brain keeps going off somewhere else for holidays & leaving me here all alone...

I just deleted my post in praise of "Add to Search Bar" Firefox plugin as I answered someone from the bottom of page one of this thread!

Sorry about that.
