This thread was a year and a half old. You shouldn't bump old threads.

Re: Complete Newb Recommendations?

I can't wait for the answer.... Me personally, I understand the idea of 64 bit. I think that a "pure 64" system (100% hardware compliance and 100% software compliance) would very rewarding. I think it would be much faster and multitasking would breeze, but I also think it would take double or quad ...

Re: Complete Newb Recommendations?

I strongly disagree with the suggestion that 64bit operating systems are pointless. Re: Wine not setting up...

Does switching to another TTY work?

If have you tried logging in as root, and getting a process list (ps aux) to see if anything is all your resources?

Otherwise, I don't have much to suggest to you.

Please spell it, 'pal' ... it's giving me a headache.

I want no part of a community where someone will come along and stick up for the obvious idiot in the situation, and that's my final word. Darksurf obviously did about as much research into this thread as you did before you started it.

Does CTRL-ALT-Click (desktop)-MoveMouse work?

Do any of the compiz effects work? e.g. wiggly windows, window previews, etc?
