Re: Kernel Blah blah.28 not booting to visual login

try doing ctrl+alt+F7 to switch TTY screens. I'm having that problem now, still trying to get it to switch automatically like it used to.

Re: Need in repository net-im/sim

It's already in portage... but I can't speak for entropy.

It's just called sim.

Re: Dream Linux Hardware Comp?

I'm running a quad-core opteron on a supermicro board with 8 gig of ram. I've got another socket waiting to be filled and a board expandable up to 32 GB ram and couldn't be happier. I ditched desktop processors altogether because they just aren't nearly as stable as server chips. But that's me. If y...

Re: Remove KDE 4.0.2?

Thanks DontPanic, but, unfortunately the --prune command didn't work. It pulled up everything fine, but it would not mark them for deletion. I ended up copying the list to a text editor, deleting the carriage returns, then threw and emerge -C in front of it. It's definitely far from an ideal solutio...

Re: Remove KDE 4.0.2?

Thanks... I've got 3.5.9 running right now, and I'd rather stay with that until 4.1 is officially released. I'd really like to remove the bloat before I do a world update. The only thing I can think of now is to do an emerge -C for each package that is in my package.unmask file (that pertains to kde...

Remove KDE 4.0.2?

Hi all, I recently installed sabayon 3.5, then proceded to update gcc and a whole bunch of other items. But, I really don't want KDE 4.0.2 that comes pre-loaded. Apparently I inadvertently installed it. Is there an easy way to remove it? Or any of the other window managers for that matter? Unless i ...

Re: wireless problems in SL 3.5

The quick and dirty fix: compile madwifi-ng-0.9.4, that should take care of it. emerge =net-wireless/madwifi-ng-0.9.4 the ath5k drivers seem incomplete. I have not tried messing with the kernel, but if I do later, I'll post my results. ToneDeaf posted the fix first: http://test.sabayonlinux.org/foru...

Re: Sabayon-Branded Openoffice

There will be a delay developing the 3.0 beta splash screens. My primary computer fell victim to a brutal power surge that surpassed my surge protector. Until I isolate the problem, I fear I cannot develop more screens. All the source files were on that machine. Hopefully in the upcoming weeks I can...

Re: Sabayon-Branded Openoffice

Thanks, everyone

I'll work on a 3.0 Beta splash, too.

I may have to drop the sabayon logo to the lower right, like the original Sun version.

Let's see if I can modify the start center screen, too!

Re: Sabayon-Branded Openoffice

I'm not sure about 2.5, I know they're working fervently on 3.0. I was just making a point that we'll need to have a series of these screens for the various versions of OOo The regular splash screen only shows two digits, and doesn't reflect the incremental changes (i.e. 2.3.1). So I'll leave it as-...
