The "cashew" in upper right corner

I did a search here on the word, "cashew," and got 0 results. That surprised me because I thought I saw that thing mentioned in Sabayon forums a while back. Maybe I'm mistaken (must be with 0 hits  ). I want to get rid of it. Googling "get rid of cashew" gets a few mentions of a "kill the cashe...

Re: Sabayon Linux 5.0 GNOME and KDE: Stable release

WARNING!! DO NOT USE THAT CODE AS POSTED!! Nightmare! I have lost all files and now have no operating system on the hard drive where Sabayon 4.2 was! I am posting using Vista hard drive. I ran the code and waited for two hours as "upgrade" was going on. The results are a system that won't boot up or...

Re: Sabayon Linux 5.0 GNOME and KDE: Stable release

I await their answer to you, mdmarmer. I am running 4.2, quite happily I might add. Wondering
if I need to start over. Hope not!

Re: Firefox starting on boot

Thanks for responding. It looks like it started happening when I allowed the battery to run completely down. It slipped my mind that it had done that, and all I did was come back to the laptop and plug it in to AC and started using it. The behavior of it invoking Firefox on boot stopped once I charg...

Firefox starting on boot [Solved]

Hello - For a reason I cannot determine yet, Firefox is starting on boot; it is there on the screen as soon as the boot is finished. It has not done this before yesterday's update. Is there a folder where I can configure the startup apps/programs? Or is there another more "right" way to fix this?

Re: Mouse preferences utility fails to start [RESOLVED]

A complete removal and then re-install of the Gnome mouse preferences utility solved the problem and it starts and functions normally now.

I still do not know what caused it to not work, though.

Mouse preferences utility fails to start [Solved]

After installing a mouse cursor theme successfully by draging the downloaded tar.bz2 to the Themes utility window the mouse utility won't start. It sits in the panel for several seconds but the utility won't come up. I need to change it to left handed and checking the left hand box in gconf-editor d...

Re: Great connection, but not automatic

Is this the same question as the one that pops up all the time on the Ubuntu forums, by any chance? When I used Ubuntu a couple of years ago it used to pop up two prompts: the login prompt and then, after I had logged in, the keyring password prompt which I had to enter in order to enable the wirel...

Re: Great connection, but not automatic

Looks like it is the same question. I'll check out the solution over there, thanks for the link. I think we should have a choice as to the level and strength of our security measures and not have things forced on us like that. I can't even stand it when there is a "strength meter" telling us how goo...

Re: Great connection, but not automatic

Thanx for replying. The auto-login thing worked.. I'm surprised I did not notice that before. But the wicd was all greyed out and contained no configurable data. Just empty. Meanwhile the network manager has been working fine, I just wanted to stop having to enter either my long pass phrase or the k...
