so, using another driver is a good idea - but also, what wm are you using? Is compositing enabled? Is direct or indirect rendering enabled?

on second thought, what module(s) are you using that relate to X? That could be a place to start looking.

So, what video card, and what drivers for it?

I'm going to go ahead and say that this is posted in the wrong shed - you may be new to Sabayon, but you're not a newbie as far as forum questions go.

As for the remounting, seems only to be that kernel revision. Strange indeed; I'm on 64-bit .35, and don't see this behavior.

as with all of software development, it depends largely on what it is that you want to do. Java is a language far more prevalent than pascal, and even more prevalent than python, especially in industry.
