Re: revdep-rebuild -> (none)

So if I use command: emerge -eNDva world my system sabayon will become gentoo? said simple No. emerge -eNDva world will rebuild pretty much all, if not all (as in every one of them), the packages on your system. It could take a while depending on how fast your system is. My laptop is about 1.5 days...

Darn.... I understand your reasons, they all make sense. And I can see that putting the large releases together takes much more time. Still, I'm gonna miss those. Thanks for the info.

Re: Enough applications to be useful

Hi, your post reminds me, 4.2 KDE doesn't have eix either. I'm totally with you on all that you are saying. I don't disagree at all that I can add the application I want . . . Here is my counter point. It use to be I could slap Sabayon on my desktop and everything was there and I didn't need to add ...

Enough applications to be useful

I recently installed the 4.2 KDE version of Sabayon on my computer. Upon booting I discovered it doesn't have MC, K3b or grip. May I ask, what is the point? When I discovered Sabayon I was impressed because: 1. It installed on my laptop and worked, to include wifi, with no effort from me. 2. It inst...

Re: revdep-rebuild -> (none)

I have not tried 'emerge -eNDva world' but I will. Thanks for the suggestion.

Re: revdep-rebuild -> (none)

I'm not mixing portage and entropy. I don't use entropy. Hence the posting in the "portage/emerge package managers" section of the forum.

revdep-rebuild -> (none)

So why is this a constant problem with my Sabayon box, yet never happens on my Gentoo box? When running revdep-rebuild after 'emerge -auvDN world' I get: /usr/lib/ardour2/ardour-2.7.1 -> (none) /usr/lib/ardour2/libardour_cp.so -> (none) /usr/lib/ardour2/libardour.so -> (none) /usr/lib/ardour2/surfac...

Interesting. For those who find this post with the same problem, try these solutions:

restarting xorg

Hi - I wasn't sure if this is the correct forum for X org related questions.

I just updated to xorg-server-1.6.2 and I see that ctrl+alt+backspace no longer restarts X. Is this a bug or a feature?

thanks, Skippy
