Re: Mounting partitions automatically at boot up

Do you mean did I try reinstalling Sabayon? I think that is more hassle than it's worth. All I found in the fstab file was /dev/sdb8 / ext3 defaults,user_xattr 1 1 /dev/sdd1 swap swap defaults 0 0 tmpfs /dev/shm tmpfs defaults 0 0 Could I add the other partitions and their mount points here? I am no...

Re: Beryl Installation

I looked at Portage wiki and saw that I should install Portato. I tried "emerge portato" as root in Konsole, it appeared to install and there is a menu entry. When I click on Portato in the menu nothing happens, other than it appears to try to load the program, its icon appears and then disappears a...

Re: Beryl Installation

Kuroo is gone and I now have portage, except that I cannot find it. I searched for it on the menu and it is not found. So how do I now install software using Portage?
I shall have to do more research on this site, but I am wondering if maybe something went wrong and it did not get properly installed.

Re: Mounting partitions automatically at boot up

I am using KDE, not Gnome.
I still need to know how to get these partitions mounted and available when I am first logged in.

Re: Beryl Installation

I entered emerge -C kuroo
and got the following message:

!!! ARCH is not set... Are you missing the '/etc/make.profile' symlink?
!!! Is the symlink correct? Is your portage tree complete?

How do I fix this?

Re: Symbolic linking of network drives

However, I cannot figure out how to link to a network drive. I have a NAS with 2 hard disks and want to link to both of these drives in my home directory.
How do I do that?

Re: Symbolic linking

It is okay now, I figured it out, I had the things the wrong way round.
It should be
ln -s [location of file or folder to be linked to] [name of link]

Re: Symbolic linking

I tried the following

Code: Select all

ln -s /home/avoura/Pictures "/media/picsvids/My Pictures"
but it did not work.

I want to put a link in my home directory (avoura) pointing to a directory containing pictures called My Pictures on a partition mounted as picsvids on /media

So am I doing it wrong?

Re: Beryl Installation

I only have Beryl on my system, how do I get Compiz Fusion?
I have tried to install using Kuroo, but I click on Check Installation, something happens and then the Start Installation button should be on but it is still greyed out.
Or should Kuroo be replaced with something too?

Mounting partitions automatically at boot up

When I start up Sabayon (3.4), it shows lots of icons at the bottom right of the screen. I have to click each one individually and choose "mount" in order to mount these partitions. The PC has 4 hard disks and several partitions spread over them, and I want to mount them all automatically at boot ti...
