Re: Reccomendations for a TV card.

Ok trying to emerge linuxtv-dvb-firmware gives me this: Calculating dependencies... done! >>> Verifying ebuild Manifests... >>> Emerging (1 of 1) media-tv/linuxtv-dvb-firmware-2007.04.13 to / * dvb-usb-wt220u-fc03.fw RMD160 SHA1 SHA256 size ;-) ... Cheers Freeallbadgers, sounds like a winner.
As I said when you google "DVB-T Linux" all I seem to get is people with problems. I'll see If I can pick one up this afternoon.
Cheers again.

Reccomendations for a TV card.

Ok as per title, I'm looking for a USB or possibly PCMCIA TV-Tuner card for my laptop. After much searching I have found that there are a lot of cards that although supported people are having trouble with. I would like to avoid spending my hard earned cash on one of these. Can anyone recommend a TV...

Re: 32bit/64bit

The only main issues I have had running the 64Bit version of Sabayon is application incompatibilities e.g. plugins for Firefox and one or two other problems. I have however found that running 32Bit versions of those applications works with no problems. I start with the mini edition then emerge the o...

Re: The most annoying distro!

I stopped using SuSE for political reasons. Perhaps the most annoying distro has been Debian for me. Although I suspect much of this has been related to my hardware I have never managed to get Debian to work for me. Many people tell me how great it is, I have never had a good experience with it. I k...

Re: Professional edition box set with handbook???

Well it was only an idea. Maybe as Sabayon gains in popularity (its doing pretty well already) this might become a viable option in the future. Out of interest would the devs be open to the idea of commercial investment in such a project? This may be one way to develop this or in fact any other idea...

Professional edition box set with handbook???

Prior to using Sabayon one of the distros I started on was SuSE. SuSE could have been downloaded for free but was also available to buy as a box set including a couple of manuals. Although the Gentoo handbook is available online many people (myself included) prefer to have something printed to read....

Re: Tesco selling Linux PCs!

Although I feel that generally its a good thing for Linux PC's to have more of a market presence. The low end Celeron system looks horrible (specs wise). Although it will run Ubuntu 6.06 If anyone tries to put a more up-to-date version on there I think it would struggle, particularly if someone were...

Re: Microsoft Corp. Xenix

Microsoft have attempted many different strategy's for business. I seem to remember them licensing the rights to Unix from SCO in 2003. Although this was more to bankroll SCO's court action against IBM. It now seems that those rights belonged to Novel anyway. It is going to become very interesting I...

Re: The reason people distro hop

I have tried many distros in my time. The ones I spent the most time with have been SuSE and Sabayon. My reasons are that I want to install something and have it just work. Experimenting with Debian and Slackware, I found these to be good solid distros but it would take me a couple of weeks of tinke...
