Re: Virtual keyboard in German under Plasma DE

With latest upgrade of my Sabayon system (Plasma 5.12.5, KDE-Frameworks 5.47.0, QT-Version 5.9.6 and Kernel 4.16.16), I have got some changes, which seem to be buggy. Maybe I will open another thread for this. But first those changes / bugs must be fixed before I will try onboard to install. It wou...

Re: Virtual keyboard in German under Plasma DE

Another virtual keyboard that works in SL is the Ubuntu virtual keyboard Onboard . It also supports all the language layouts (including German). I like it because it can also behave like an Android keypad: a longer press on a virtual key pops up all the possible variants of that letter with diacriti...

Re: Virtual keyboard in German under Plasma DE

The user guide tells you how to do both. See the Customization section: http://t-sato.in.coocan.jp/xvkbd/ You could also use the normal KDE KWin method of setting a bigger default window size. Install x11-apps/xlsfonts to see which X11 fonts are available. One example of many: $ cat ~/XVkbd xvkbd.wi...

Re: Virtual keyboard in German under Plasma DE

Try xkbd and xvkbd to see if they can be configured for German layout. Both are in the Entropy package repository.

Re: Feedback wanted: Relaunch coming soon

Hi Ryuno-Ki, my suggestion would be to drop the serif font and use all sans serif font throughput. Sans serif looks more modern.

Re: Looking for a new laptop.

Personally, I would avoid any laptop that uses NVIDIA Optimus hardware, which is commonly used in laptops. I have a Clevo laptop (W230SS, which I believe is no longer available) that has NVIDIA Optimus hardware and, although it is possible to use Linux with it, NVIDIA Optimus is more fiddly to get w...

As you have marked your post as solved, it could be useful to others if you explain how the problem was solved.

Re: message "localhost cannot open /proc/meminfo"

The Sabayon Linux 4.15.* kernel was compiled with support for /proc file system enabled (CONFIG_PROC_FS=y), as you can see: https://github.com/Sabayon/kernel/blob/4.15/sabayon/config/sabayon-amd64.config So my pure guess is that Kaffeine is buffering/caching the video stream in RAM and reaching the ...

Re: USB flash drive automount permissions

Try:

Code: Select all

/dev/sdd1 /media vfat defaults,nofail,x-systemd.device-timeout=1 0 2
