Re: Some thoughts about Sabayon

SL hasn't taken the portage out of it tho, just got to stick to one or the other. My x86 is pure portage and I ran into a problem a while back, I don't remember the details, but I installed entropy and than installed the trouble some package via entropy and immediately recompiled it with emerge and...

Re: Some thoughts about Sabayon

Well, just a couple of thoughts from someone who has used Sabayon (happily) for the last two years but who has moved on. I love the control that Sabayon gave me without the hassle of a Gentoo setup. The way it just worked was great. I am less happy with the drift towards Entropy to the detriment to ...

Re: Problems after update to Spritz/Equo/Entropy 0.23.9

Reinstalling gtk+ had no effect. Couldn't see any missing libraries using ldd.

Solution was to reinstall glib.

Re: Problems after update to Spritz/Equo/Entropy 0.23.9

Wow, quick reply. Thanks joost. Unfortunately, while a number of broken executables were found, they didn't seem to relate to this problem, or at least, didn't solve it.

Problems after update to Spritz/Equo/Entropy 0.23.9 [Solved]

Well, I updated GLSAs and entropy etc. this morning. There was also a library, which I (foolishly) didn't take note of it's name. I've rebooted later on & there are problems. Firefox and spritz won't run; firefox throwing out the error: /usr/lib64/mozilla-firefox/firefox: symbol lookup error:...

Re: 4.0 Branch

Just wondered about the reasons for kdeprefix USE flag Joost? You mention KDE 3.5 and 4.1, but I thought that having major versions side by side was not a problem. Is moving away from the path Gentoo are choosing going to cause problems for portage users in the future?

Re: huge nubmer of conflicts after running intall

It would be great if the installation gave you the choice of using portage or entropy (perhaps as an advanced option so as not to confuse people) and produced a world file appropriate to your choice. If you're doing a new installation and you want to use portage, it seems a little backward to have t...

Re: emerge kate fails

More information about sorting those blocked packages (for your 'emerge kate') is given on the Gentoo forums.

Re: Printer Drivers

This guy seems to have got stuff going under Debian http://www.lowlevel.cz/log/pivot/entry.php?id=40 based on some drivers released in Japan. Perhaps you can modify this method?
