Re: upgrade / migration issue

Um, sounds interesting, but the problems there still look quite diffrerent from mine. Certainly, I upgraded to latest portage, equo, entropy (using --nodeps) before trying the migration step. equo always advised to do that first. Maybe that wasn't a good idea? Why would/do I need a portage from befo...

Re: upgrade / migration issue

Now I got another system where the update stalled on installing sabayon-lib-migration-1. Again, this was a system that didn't see updates for a couple of months, but well... again, the system is completely hosed, panics after killing the sleeping process (see below) and trying to continue migration,...

profile setting

Just to let people in here know: I just spend quite some time hunting down issues that were caused by Sabayon's profile erronously set to 17.0/desktop where it should have been 17.1/desktop after the profile change in March. This has to be done manually when doing an upgrade, but the profile is also...

DAILY images don't boot anymore

I tried to install recent daily XFCE AMD64 images the other day (tried images from 7th of May, and 11th of May to be more precise). They all crash during boot somewhere around plymouth with squashfs mount errors (sorry, no screenshot at hand). I tried dd'in to USB media, using etcher to create USB m...

Re: upgrade / migration issue

Another system upgraded without any issue. Looks like the problem in the first place has been a one-off issue. For whatever reason.

Re: upgrade / migration issue

I recently upgraded another system (from something like October 2019), and that worked fine. I took the "do migration first" approach here. That triggered lots of other updates, too, and the link migration itself took quite some time, but it finished as expected this time.

Re: upgrade / migration issue

That's something I also already thought about (other updates being the root cause), especially after you wrote you tested a fresh insall (with the 19.3 release, I guess?). I have some more systems to try (and hopefully not break) that are in various upgrade states between 19.3 and three weeks ago (a...

Re: upgrade / migration issue

4.19 it was, I think (meahwhile I reinstalled because I needed the device). The link is not really that useful to me due to my lacking capabilities in Italian.

Re: Upgrade breaks system!

See here (manifesto saved the message, I got the same): https://forum.sabayon.org/viewtopic.php?f=57&t=35756 * Profile migration was supposed to have been done by sys-apps/sabayon-lib-migration * but it is not the case. * * If it didn't get installed, install it now as THE FIRST AND ONLY PACKAGE. * ...
