Re: Sabayon Linux 5.3 GNOME and KDE: Stable release

Maybe there is something wrong as 2 days ago an 'equo upgrade' also installed the new kernel (.34) on my system. Hope it didn't give you any probs mate, but selfishly speaking it's good to know it's not just me! No it didn't give any probs, it was a 5 min. fix (installingen video drivers for the ne...

Re: Sabayon 5.2 on USB-HDD (Multi-Boot)

I'm glad you got it working. But I'm interrested in how you did it as you say my suggestion doesn't work and if I look to your link I find LABEL Sabayon_starten kernel /boot/sabayon/sabayon append root=/dev/ram0 initrd=/boot/sabayon/sabayon.igz unionfs init=/linuxrc cdroot doslowusb looptype=squashf...

Re: Sabayon 5.2 on USB-HDD (Multi-Boot)

I already told you what I think could be the solution: Adding the 'doslowusb' boot parameter gives the system some extra time to probe for all usb devices You need to add 'doslowusb' to the kernel parameters. To do this you need to edit the grub configuration file (the one showing you the menu to ch...

Re: Sabayon 5.2 on USB-HDD (Multi-Boot)

If you are still interrested in finding a solution. Sometimes it can take a while before the boot process detects external usb devices. Thats why the block device is found after you type it again (sufficient time has past). Adding the 'doslowusb' boot parameter gives the system some extra time to pr...

Re: Nvidia 230M and Blackscreen

If your problem isn't fixed yet try to post your Xorg log-file. So boot once using nvidia. Shutdown. Then boot using nv or vesa. You can override the driver to use by appending 'xdriver=vesa' or 'xdriver=nv' to the kernel boot line in grub. You should have 2 Xorg log files. One from the current boot...

Re: Sabayon Core edition setup?

Nothing wrong with me. I wasn't able to check the forums for a while and I am skimming through the 300+ unread threads. The question is only 1 month old, so it could still be relevant to the person asking the question or someone searching for the same. I find it frustrating myself if you are searchi...

Re: Sabayon Core edition setup?

To connect to the internet via a wireless router, I would search the Sabayon and Gentoo wiki for information and also look at wpa-supplicant. You can configure it using some configuration file(s) and let it auto connect at boot. For the fluxbox package you could perform a search using equo equo sear...

Congratulations :alien:
You truly know how to persist 8)

This thread contains a lot of useful information on lirc. Maybe it would be interesting to collect them somewhere on the wiki, because it would be a waste if all this info got lost in the archive after time...

Re: ASRock ION 330HT nettop running Sabayon Linux

But I thought that the LIRC daemon could only be started if a driver module is installed? Is my understanding incorrect? I don't have any experience with lirc, I just assumed you could start the daemon without a driver. Testing on my system confirms it: Crashbox sjieke # /etc/init.d/lircd start * S...
