Re: Minimal Fluxbox install stops at blinking cursor

Earlier tonight i had a friend download and attempt to install the March 18.04 minimal on his Dell Inspiron 3520. He is also set up in legacy mode. Both real install from usb and virtual box gave the same results i have gotten. "Live" (the first option) results in a black screen. "Text Install" ends...

Re: Minimal Fluxbox install stops at blinking cursor

Sadly, no. That key combination had no effect.
I was under the impression that i had Intel 3000 series GPU in this machine? I have upgraded the cpu to 2nd gen i5, and 8gb ram, but doubt those could be issues?
Thanks for any advice!

new MATE won't login after timing out

Hi all, I am currently using a new Sabayon MATE install, just updated. At boot-up i can login with my password without issue. Afterward, if i am away for a bit and it logs me out, that same password comes up as incorrect on the different login screen. I must login as new user, which returns me to th...

Minimal Fluxbox install stops at blinking cursor

Hi all, I had Sabayon Minimal (Fluxbox only) working on my old Dell laptop a few months ago. Now i am unable to install it on my Asus x44H in legacy mode with other OSs present in different partitions. I have tried the latest and next to latest minimal releases, downloaded multiple times, and writte...

Gnumeric formulas?

This is probably not the best place to ask for detailed speradsheet knowledge, so I'll just ask generally for links to such things. I use and love Gnumeric spreadsheet, but i know i am not taking full advantage of its capabilities. I use a couple formulas to count things (which i got from an excel f...

Re: Chromium Keyring change after install?

Looks like i spoke too soon. Next morning boot returned to me the usual password notice which i had to click cancel 4 times to proceed. I saved my bookmarks and had Rigo uninstall Chromium and chrome-tools (or something similar). I then reinstalled expecting a fresh start. Nope. Still the password r...

Re: Chromium Keyring change after install?

Awesome, thank you so much! A couple of caveats: the file name i edited in /usr/share/applications/ is chromium-browser-chromium.desktop. I then cp this entire file to ~/local/share/applications/ This did not work while chromium was open. I had to copy your instructions to pluma and shut down the br...

Chromium Keyring change after install?

Hi all, I have learned from this awesome forum how to tab through the initial keyring setup so that Chromium doesn't ask for a keyring password every time it is opened. I now use this on all my new installs on various laptops. But... when i first started using Chromium i did not know about this opti...
