System-D Failure with Upgrade [Solved]

Hello, Sabayon Gurus. I upgraded my systems today via sabayon-weekly. I have upgraded a desktop and a laptop. The desktop runs 4.9. The laptop runs 4.18. Once the upgrades were complete, I rebooted both systems. The laptop booted fine. The desktop ran into problems typical of the description given i...

Re: Update/Upgrade Failure [Solved]

Thank you, sabayonino.

So every once in a while I should force installation and upgrade of entropy with relaxed dependency constraints to ensure that binutils, entropy, gcc and portage are updated, and the use of nodeps is a method used to get around a block.

Thank you very much yet again!!!

Re: Update/Upgrade Failure

Thank you yet again, sabayonino. As per your instructions, I executed # su # equo install entropy --relaxed --ask # equo upgrade --nodeps --ask and this solved the problem. This raises the questions of 1. "Why was this necessary?" 2. "Why wasn't the usual manipulation of 'equo undate' and 'equo upgr...

Re: Auto-logout after weekly update [Solved]

Hi, sabayonino. When I try to execute: $ su $ equo mask "=sys-apps/systemd-239-r2" I see the following result: ╠ ## [M] =sys-apps/systemd-239-r2 ╠ -> sys-apps/systemd-239-r2 ☛ !!! ☛ !!! Warning: =sys-apps/systemd-239-r2 action not executed. ☛ !!! ╠ Have a nice day. Why is it failing to work? Thank y...

Re: Unusable: Auto-logout after weekly update

THANK YOU, sabayonino.

I did exactly as you instructed and reinstalled version 233. All is well after reboot. I am marking this as "Solved".

For added bonus, you taught me two more equo manipulation of which I was unaware.

THANK YOU!!!

Re: Unusable: Auto-logout after weekly update

Hello again. This paragraph discusses my laptop, which I had previously thought was fixed by manipulations in previous posts in this thread. When I attempted to upgrade my laptop yesterday, I found that I had no network connections; no LAN and no Wireless. I tried to figure out root cause, but event...

Re: Unusable: Auto-logout after weekly update

I decided to post excerpts from "dmesg" and "journalctl -xb", thinking that it might help diagnose the issue. What is provided below is from my desktop. Note that this all apparently occurs subsequent to my use of "Control D" in response to the following message provided during boot: Starting versio...

Re: Unusable: Auto-logout after weekly update

Thank you for your response, geaaru. I performed: su /bin/systemctl daemon-reexec I noticed that this command returned immediately. I waited around one minute and then performed: /bin/systemctl reboot As expected, the system started to reboot. Booting took much longer than normal. During the boot pr...
