Re: Sabayon does not start, llptool

Hi, Joost. My problem has been fixed using your instructions, but I thought you might want some detail. I performed "su" and became root. I executed "equo remove net-misc/lldpad" and learned that net-misc/lldpad was not on my system. I then executed "equo remove net-misc/fcoe-utils" and learned that...

Re: Sabayon does not start, llptool

Thank you, Joost, for your excellent explanation.
I will implement it at my next available opportunity, hopefully before the upcoming weekend.

Re: Sabayon does not start, llptool

Hello and thank you in advance to the gurus of Sabayon! My systems (desktop and laptop) are both experiencing this issue, and the appearance is apparently identical to the image provided by Joost. Both system still boot into Sabayon, but I do have to wait a long time before a timeout elapses and the...

Re: Booting Problems

I am marking this as "Likely Solved". I apologize for wasting everyone's time, but I suspect that I now know at least part of the root cause. You may recall that I mentioned that there was a BSOD while in Win7, and that there was a vibrating/buzzing sound. I assumed that the hard drive had been dama...

Re: Booting Problems

I have been dual booting between Linux and Win7 . The motherboard is UEFI. 1. Based on this information, are you now saying that I incorrectly formatted the hard drive? 2. Are you now saying that I still needed a FAT32 /boot/efi partition? If I performed task 1 and 2 listed above incorrectly, then w...

Re: Booting Problems

Thank you for your response, Sabayonino. I do not claim to fully understand what you are telling me. I am apparently running grub 2.02_beta3-r1. Are you telling me that the BSOD seen in Windows which resulted in an inability to directly boot from grub into either Windows or Linux is because my /boot...

Re: Booting Problems

Hello, Fitzcarraldo. Thank you for your response. Answers to your questions in your order. Information obtained using Linux utilities, where needed. 1. UEFI. 2. The partition table is "msdos", so I assume that is "MBR". 3. /boot is on a different partition than "/". (If I recall correctly, this was ...

Re: Booting Problems

I suspect that WinBlowz 7 overwrote an important region of my hard drive, thereby damaging the normal boot process. Here are the results from an extended multi-hour smartctl run with output displayed with "smartctl -x": smartctl 6.6 2017-11-05 r4594 [x86_64-linux-4.9.0-sabayon] (local build) Copyrig...

Booting Problems [Likely Solved]

Hello, Sabayon Gurus. I don't believe this is a Sabayon or a Linux problem, but I am hoping for an explanation. I have a system that is dual-bootable to Win7 and Sabayon. Last time I was in Win7, I was abused by the BSOD and could hear the hard drive buzzing/vibrating in a strange manner. Subsequent...

Re: An upgrade from Hades... [Solved]

Yes, sabayonino, the "multithresh" was my typo. "history|grep equo" shows that I used "multifetch".

I am curious as to why the upgrade was so problematic. I am also curious about what I should do to preclude recurrence. Should I plan on performing a fresh install?

Thank you.
