Re: Solution for no wireless broadcom-sta wl for 3.15 and ab

A sincere tip of the hat for this, as the broadcom-sta is apparently not going anywhere. I have been circling this for awhile (since 3.14, but "STA WL" did not work for me then, either) Unfortunately for some of platforms, the other drivers are not usable either . I have been trying to get the broad...

kernel 3.16.5 - genkernel -xconfig 'save as' Fails Silently

Having been tracking kernels 3.16.x and recompiling each time for a particularly disastrous piece of hardware, I notice that with the latest kernel 3.16.5 that running genkernel -xconfig I can no longer save my selections using some kind of user-specified .config file. When hitting save (the normal,...

Re: How to install Sabayon 14.07 from USB device?

I bashed my head against the wall for about a week trying to understand EFI booting, and eventually I came to understand we desperately need to differentiate whether we are booting ----------------------------------------------------BIOS as opposed to ------------------------------------------------...

Re: ASUS Laptop Video Driver Install - HELP

I am not an expert, but I do like Asus stuff and I have just finished a round of wailing and gnashing of teeth against a similar Intel graphics problem. What I learned during that fray was to try some various kernel (and Grub) boot options. The comment To fix, explicitly disable the port with an i91...

Re: Installing without LVM

More banging my head against the brick wall with Anaconda. :eye: . I feel so much better since I found out that Anaconda's :alien: twisted mentality is not just a perverse side-effect of trying to install 14.07xfce on an exceedingly uncooperative tablet, but is also a complete and utter  barfb...

Re: Installing without LVM

Fail. . LVM is simply a deal-breaker for just a notebook system. Cannot just plug in a copy of clonezilla or other USB livecd and simply fix things. . More of a problem is having to share a disk with Windows, using LVM in an EFI-only (no BIOS/cfm/legacy) machine. It just gets too complicated to pull...

Re: Sabayon on x86 tablets?

Maybe I should start a new thread for BayTrail, which is not exactly x86:  Found this on the Arch sites: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/HCL/Firmwares/UEFI#Intel_Atom_SoC_Bay_Trail Intel Atom SoC Bay Trail Intel Atom SoC Bay Trail processors actually support 64-bit, but these tablets ship...

Re: Sabayon on x86 tablets?

I will try the LXQt when I get a chance. I am moving on (the tablet I showed works well for its assignment, so I am not interested in "fixing something that ain't broken". But, I will try with my shiny new Acer Iconia W4-821 which appears to be a real scream, technically. I just had XFCE-32bit (x86)...
