Re: 'eselect kernel list' doesn't list any kernel selections

The problems about upgrading the kernel are mostly related to the modules that must be rebuilt for that specific kernel, mainly the GPU driver (see here for instance). As for the kernel image, you can run "eselect bzImage list" or even better, try using kernel-swticher as in: #equo install linux-sab...

Re: Getting started with Sabayon

That being said, in order to install any linux distribution, and assuming you have a UEFI motherboard, you need to partition the hard drive/SSD using a gpt partition scheme, which means you have to use gdisk or gparted, and create at least 2 mandatory partitions (plus the windows one if you want of ...

Re: Getting started with Sabayon

Generally speaking, when you decide to install a specific linux distibution, you should always read the related wiki , and the FAQ in there. It'll help you understand how the distro works, and if it's what you're looking for. In particular, the way it manages the packages, or the package tree if you...

Re: Login loop after editing /etc/fstab [Solved]

#blkid is shorter to write and prettier to look at :P By the way, since it happened recently, what's the way to avoid conflicts with other distro? Of course the username would be the same, so only one /home/my_username folder among all the distro I use. Any issue with user ID, group ID, permissions,...

Re: Login loop after editing /etc/fstab

I don't know what I was doing wrong, I sware I mounted the new home partition as you suggested and copied the files with a trivial 'copy -R' then added the line in fstab and rebooted. Probably the fact I was mounting with the /dev/sda7 name instead that by UUID? Or because rsync works differently th...

Re: How to properly change DE?

Derp, so many errors in those files :eye: First one looks like a goldmine of informations about cinnamon (if I only could understand it): sabayon ~ # cat /home/njos/.xsession-errors gnome-keyring-daemon: insufficient process capabilities, unsecure memory might get used gnome-keyring-daemon: insuffic...

Re: How to properly change DE?

Ok, help me get rid of this horrible latency/30-seconds-long-hiccup after login. It's clearly some service waiting for a response untill some sort of timeout kicks in but how can I find out which one is it?

Re: Secondary screen disappeared. How to have it back?

By the way, this got fixed by... uhm, shell I say it?... Windows!! :D Yep, that's true. Monitor was like dead, tried launching win10 once and the led woke up after logging in but it remained black. Rebooted win again and this time it woke up magically again and it was recognized in sabayon too. I th...
