Re: Installer, Controll Centre for Sabayon.

I try to switch from OpenSuse to Sabayon/Gentoo because: 1.) I look after and more than 10 PCs and Laptops in my extended family. They all need to be upgraded every 12 month or so. Usually a fresh install and configuration and sorting out wireless problems. This is a terrible pain in the neck that m...

Re: Installer, Controll Centre for Sabayon.

Elmar: - There is no way to configure the installer to use the fastest mirror. Downloading from the default mirror is Italy is at about 50Kbytes per second whereas the most suitable mirror delivers 1.0Mbytes per second. Regarding this, in console, type equo mirrorsort sabayon-weekly which will test...

Re: Installer, Controll Centre for Sabayon.

I think you have an overreliance on GUI tools by the looks of it :alien: However, we (Sabayon/Gentoo) are always looking for new people, so why not knock something together and put it on github? It's nice for Newbie to have GUI for items you may only use once a year instead of a cmd line where with...

Installer, Controll Centre for Sabayon.

I have been using Suse and OpenSuse since 1996 and trialing Sabayon. The result wants me to switch to a "Rolling Upgrade" distribution like Gentoo or Sabayon. The complexity of installing, configuring and maintaining Gentoo and Sabayon without YAST holds me back from converting the 16 PC's and Lapto...

How can I convert (re-compile) Sabayon to Gento 'Stable'.

I am trying to find concise and complete instructions on how to convert a new installed and configured Sabayon system to Gentoo 'stable' stripped down system with custom kernel compiled with '-mtune=native' and where appropriate with '-O3 -fomit-frame-pointer' compile flags set. The purpose is to ru...

The rc.log file does not show any difference between loging in and out under Battery Only or AC Power.

Re: Toshiba Laptop PSK8A-09V00S, re-boots after Shutdown

Don't know whether it's relevant, but I have: $ cat /etc/pm/config.d/laptop-mode-tools HOOK_BLACKLIST="00powersave" This file is missing. I added the file. Did not make any difference. $ cat /etc/pm/config.d/gentoo HOOK_BLACKLIST="01grub 90clock" This file is identical, Also, which DE are you using...

Re: Japanese User

Thanks,

I now get some of the menu entries in CHINESE, but can't type anything in Japanese or Chinese. I will try 'scim'. This always worked with OpenSuse without any problems.
