Re: Systemd Works Great!

Just a tip...

You can use this command to view the boot time:

Code: Select all

systemd-analyze
It may be better if you can boot without shell scripts, using only the systemd's unit files.

Re: SystemD, just like Pulsef*** and GRUB2, is a mess!

Kernel space mixing is not necessary, it's like saying why is mergesort necessary, we got quicksort, it has its advantages and disadvantages. It's just a different approach, you get synchronization for free, you save some sample copying all over the place, the kernel knows exactly when and who is m...

Re: SystemD, just like Pulsef*** and GRUB2, is a mess!

So every kernel module is a security issue, because it could be exploited to gain priviledges over the machine, you should use Minix or any other microkernel if you want to avoid that. :D Hey, we don't live in a perfect world! Kernel mixing is not a security issue, it just performs mixing in kernel...

Re: SystemD, just like Pulsef*** and GRUB2, is a mess!

OSS is dead. Mixing in the kernel space is a bad idea, no power management, no Bluetooh, no USB audio and no modern application supporting it. OK, it has active development, but it was forgotten. Why? This is your own opinion. Many developers actually think kernel mixing has less latency, leads to ...

Re: My computers are not smart phones-tell gnome3 and kde4 t

Adobe Reader???? No, thanks. It's very poor mantained. Flash Player is more than sufficient, I don't want more Adobe's crap. There 2 options here: Evince and Okular. Yeah, I don't abot DE apps too, but in the essential I need to care: documment and image viewers, file manager, calendar and volume co...

Re: Microsoft taken to court because of UEFI

Because the hardware consortium may reject ANY key at any time, if they want to do it. And MS has the power to force the hardware companies to do it. Alone this possibility is a threaten. In theory, this a possibility but remember: Secure Boot can be disabled. Anyway, people in the Linux (Linux mea...

Re: Microsoft taken to court because of UEFI

Sorry, the real problem is UEFI. At first you can read the comment of Linus Torvalds here: http://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2013/02/linus-torvalds-i-will-not-change-linux-to-deep-throat-microsoft/ So, I will ask you really, where is any advantage then for Linux? And why does Torvalds a...

Re: Microsoft taken to court because of UEFI

And what's your idea? Back to BIOS (cof cof)? First: UEFI is not something like running on top of BIOS, it's a full replacement for BIOS. So, UEFI is a specificatoon and it isn't posible to deactivete it. Second: UEFI is not a MS creation, it is developed by a consortium. You can see the members her...

Re: My computers are not smart phones-tell gnome3 and kde4 t

If you don't like smarts or tablets, OK, but the problem is yours and avoiding people to use them is a bad idea. There's nothing wrong with run GNOME or KDE SC in these devices. We have GNOME Shell and Plasma Active for these purposes. For the desktops, we have Plasma Workspaces in KDE SC 4 and the ...
