Re: What is the difference between the Mate and Xfce ISOs?

The big one is Libre Office in Xfce and gOffice in Mate as listed in the pkglist files.

Re: What is the difference between the Mate and Xfce ISOs?

@nomko
That is what is strange about this -- Xfce is heavier and Mate is lighter as far as applications go. And, I don't think it could be just the office suite. Maybe the Xfce comes with lots more themes, wallpapers, icons, etc.

Re: What is the difference between the Mate and Xfce ISOs?

I did look at the pkglist and the office suite was the only thing that jumped out right away. If I remeber correctly, the big office suite takes up about 300 MB. Leaving it out lets some distros stay with a CD rather than a DVD. That still leaves 160 MB. As far as Youtube goes, my watching memory do...

What is the difference between the Mate and Xfce ISOs?

The http://na.mirror.garr.it/mirrors/sabayo ... iso/daily/ page shows that the current Xfce version is about 460 MB bigger than the Mate one. One big difference is Libre Office vs gOffice. Does this account for most/all the diffence or is there something else, too?

Re: Need help with SL 14.01 KDE Live DVD

@lxnay
Thanks. That is my problem with both KDE and Xfce.

@Provia
Thanks. That 331 showed up even after I tried to install 304. It looks like I have been made obsolete once again. :(

I will wait for the new ISOs and try again.

Re: Need help with SL 14.01 KDE Live DVD

Thanks Provia.

I am trying to do this off the Live DVD and it looks like that is not going to work. Is the basic problem that my card is not being detected or that it is too old for the current driver?

Re: Need help with SL 14.01 KDE Live DVD

It looks like it really wants to be installed and updated on a HD before this is done. [email protected] ~ $ su localhost sabayonuser # eselect opengl list Available OpenGL implementations: [1] ati [2] nvidia [3] xorg-x11 * localhost sabayonuser # equo install nvidia-drivers ╠ ╠ Entropy is runni...

Re: Need help with SL 14.01 KDE Live DVD

Using the Live DVD, the Xfce version did the same thing. It must not be KDE. Here is what I did in the terminal with the DVD. [email protected] ~ $ eselect opengl list Available OpenGL implementations: [1] ati [2] nvidia [3] xorg-x11 * [email protected] ~ $ 2 bash: 2: command not found sabay...

Re: Need help with SL 14.01 KDE Live DVD

Thanks Stupot.

From the looks of your answer, the problems is with the non-nVidia driver that comes on the DVD. This has not been a problem with any distro until now. What is new about this or is my card just getting old?

Is there was a way around the reboot in order to use the DVD?

Need help with SL 14.01 KDE Live DVD

When I boot of the DVD, it comes up in 1280x1024 resolution and I want to change this to something much bigger.

My graphics card is a nVidia GeForce 7050 PV / nForce 630a.

Can I fix this while running the Live DVD? Can I fix this after installing it?
