Re: KDE fails at xinit after recent update

So it sounds like something is messed up with your Display Manager. Are you using sddm, or lightdm? My system is using sddm as shown here: [email protected] ~ $ cat /etc/systemd/system/display-manager.service [Unit] Description=Simple Desktop Display Manager Documentation=man:sddm(1) man:sddm.conf(5) A...

Re: Gnome 3.30 and kernel 4.20 when?

As far as kernels goes, it always takes some time to package them up, and get proper driver support before they can be released. The fact that Sabayon doesn't have kernel 4.20 in the repo yet is business as usual. We're still way ahead of any non-rolling release distro on that front. As far as gnome...

Re: Sound pops and cracks

System settings -> Multimedia -> Audio and Video -> Backend (tab) That is where you can set which phonon backend to prefer. And it helps narrow it down because if switching to GStreamer doesn't fix it, then you know that Phonon VLC most likely isn't the problem, rather it lies outside of that. Proce...

Re: Sound pops and cracks

Try installing media-libs/phonon-gstreamer and switching the audio backend from VLC to gstreamer.

Even if it that doesn't fix it, it helps narrow down the problem.

Re: Sabayon Never been good for me since 15.3

@FatRakoon I actually run into the same screensaver issue (assuming you are using KDE). I've used this whenever it crops up (and it seems to crop up after ever KDE upgrade on my laptop, but doesn't hit my desktop ever)

Re: Sabayon Never been good for me since 15.3

When performing the update, try to just update entropy first, then run the full upgrade?

# equo i equo

Maybe that will allow the the rest of the upgrades to go through.

Re: How to enable JavaFX??

@chiefcw, you probably didn't actually have to uninstall icedTea for it to work, rather you just needed to switch which jvm your user/system used by default. There's a little utility called java-config-2 that you can install that makes this super simple. Just fyi. What you've done clearly works for ...
