Automatic partitioning questions

Since my ssd-drive was replaced, I had to do a fresh install over the hard where the repair guys had installed Windows 10. Since I didn't feel like partitioning I used the automatic partitioning option. So now I have the following partitions: /dev/sda1 500MB recovery /dev/sda2 100MB /boot/efi /dev/sd...

Re: Equo upgrade error

Well, I did
#equo install equo entropy --nodeps
#equo install binutils portage --nodeps
#equo upgrade
Still installing. Don't know if it will produce a working OS,but who cares,it's either that or fresh install, lol :)
Edit: Ok, this really helped, system upgraded normally. So yay! :)

Equo upgrade error [Solved]

I just reinstalled Sabayon on my new hard and I tried to run $equo upgrade but got the following error: Source Package Manager is too old, please update it: UsuportedAPIException() I read somewhere in the forum that the problem is with the stable release and one should use the daily iso, however, it...

Re: Sytem totally messsed up after kernel update

Additional Info I just posted in the other forum, my system seems to think I have only 1 core and 1 thread available, even though it recognises the i7 CPU. That's very very weird!

Sytem totally messsed up after kernel update

Note: I first posted this at Gentoo's forum, but I'm posting it also here in case anyone has an idea. After my update to the latest revision for kernel 4.18.19, my laptop loads for 35 minutes. It's extremely slow and after logging in, the first attempts lasted about 5 minutes after log in, ending wi...

Re: When can we expect kernel 4.17?

That was 17 days ago, why is it taking so long? Interestingly, since 4.16-r13 the touchpad is recognised and the system boots without specific acpi-options. But still, touchpad works horribly so I barely use it and every now and then, touchpad will completely freeze and I'll have to do: modprobe -r ...

When can we expect kernel 4.17?

Hi guys, when can we expect the new kernel coming to entropy? Because I read that maybe (MAYBE) they fixed the touchpad/nvidia issue in 4.17.0-rc6 and I'm really looking forward it? And I'd rather have it directly form Sabayon repository than syncing to portage.

Re: How to recompile the kernel (to add a new module)?

Hi, thanks for the suggestion. Indeed, I haven't used Gentoo options for a very long while now. Before it used to break things and so I avoided it. Anyway, it seems that the problem are the kernel options. I'm able to start X only with "acpi_osi=! acpi_osi="WIndows 2009"" and I saw that for other pe...

Re: How to recompile the kernel (to add a new module)?

Hi and thank you so much for the detailed reply. It really helped because of course I don't want to recompile the kernel. So I did modprobe etc and well, I still have no touchpad. After another 2 hours of pain, I think the problem is acpi: When I boot with acpi=force, the detection of Elan1200 appea...
