PAE Problem

Hi, I've just tried to install the latest version of Sabayon with the xfce interface. It gives me the "This kernel requires the following features not present on the CPU: pae. Unable to boot - please use a kernel appropriate for you CPU." error. I have found the piece on the download page that says ...

Re: XFCE Desktop as normal user

OK Job done. After reinstall, all works well, thanks loads to all of you.

Then, restore /home, yes you've guessed it, back where we started.

So new plan, reinstall and see what the permisions are on /home and /martin, then do a restore, and see if I can make the permissions the same.

Re: XFCE Desktop as normal user

Thanks for the info, but you've got to be brave.... rm -r .* a bit of a mess if you get it wrong, like you say.... But, as far as I know, (not very far), it won't change the permissions on the directories, which seems to be the source of the problem. I'll see if I can borrow a hard drive to back up ...

Re: XFCE Desktop as normal user

Right, thanks for the above. /home/martin/.config/xfce4 and /home/martin/.gnome* have been cast to the bin, and libtest has been run, unfortunatly, I didn't save the output, but the last thing it said was "System is healthy" I'm now going to logout and back in again, see you in a while...... windche...
