Re: No wlan0 on older installation

My laptop was never connected to the Belkin, it's worked since I first installed Sabayon without having to do anything to it, using whatever it's internal wireless is. The PC is another matter. I thought I'd added the rt2500usb and rt73usb to /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf, but I just checked, and e...

Re: No wlan0 on older installation

Here's the results. For what it's worth, this is on a PC, not a laptop. I have Sabayon on a laptop too, and it's worked fine on wireless since day one. larry-pc larry # uname -a Linux larry-pc 4.7.0-sabayon #1 SMP Fri Oct 28 07:47:36 UTC 2016 x86_64 Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU E2180 @ 2.00GHz Genui...

Re: No wlan0 on older installation

Installed rfkill, it was already installed. rfkill list is blank, doesn't show or list anything. As for the bios, might be most likely, but odd, as this is an older, "orphan' PC, running a motherboard purchased from some guy I met in a grocery store parking lot that was advertised on Craigslist. It'...

Re: No wlan0 on older installation

Wow, sorry for the long response! I thought the thread was dead! And...nothing, that is no wlan0, and i still haven't found a way to tell bash what my wireless is called. I know ethernet is enp0s18, but that's all. I've also tried using another wireless unit, a Realtek that shows: Bus 001 Device 003...

Re: No wlan0 on older installation

Alright, added the 2 drivers/modules to /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf . So much for my reading skills.

Re: No wlan0 on older installation

Downloaded firmware. Bash couldn't recognize blacklist command for some reason.

Code: Select all

bash: blacklist: command not found

Re: No wlan0 on older installation

Weird that lsusb wasn't recognized by bash. I'm using a Belkin usb F5D7050 that's been in the kernel forever, a quick search shows it being rt73 in 2006. larry-pc larry # lspci 00:00.0 Host bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc. No wlan0 on older installation

I've had Sabayon on my PC for over a year, but I've always used Ethernet. I'm trying to get a usb wireless working on it, but so far I haven't gotten wlan0 (or whatever wireless shows up as now.) How can I query bash to bring wlan0 or it's replacement up?
