Re: Differences between base-gcc and gcc packages? [SOLVED]

Greetings, Thank you for your response, Wolfden. Yes, that answers the base question, and in fact, answers all but one, though I think I figured that last one out myself; only the shared libraries and env files are in sys-devel/base-gcc. All binaries, headers and other libraries are in sys-devel/gcc...

Differences between base-gcc and gcc packages? [Solved]

Greetings, I am a little confused about the differences between these two packages, thanks to the recent updates, and it leaves me with a couple questions: Is it expected that when you have both sys-devel/base-gcc and sys-devel/gcc installed on a system, routine updates would update the sys-devel/ba...

Re: Need help with wiki post

Well, As a recommendation, you can try the trick that I use when posting to wiki's: Start with your page laid out the way you want it to read. Find a wiki page that has the look/layout that you need. On the Sabayon Wiki's, you click the "View Source" tab at the top of the specific wiki. As an exampl...

Re: Missing file viewer

Greetings, From what I can tell, it doesn't seem that Sulfur goes to a particular external app to bring up the license pop-up window. In fact, it looks like the viewer is within Sulfur. This is what I found trying to install Virtualbox: A partial list of processes before starting the install: 19135 ...

Re: Fasm not in entropy?

Greetings, I know that the repositories that Sabayon uses are based off of the portage tree from Gentoo. Well, in Gentoo, ' fasm ' is not considered stable enough to be put in the portage tree, but is available in one of the overlays via layman . Now, going through the Sabayon Entropy Wiki page , it...

Handling (Gentoo)layman "overlays" with Equo & Sulfur

Greetings, I was just curious about the handling of overlays in Sabayon. Are the packages from the overlays the same ones that are in the sabayon-limbo repository? (Of course, minus the ' sabayon ' overlay) Or is there another method to handle them within Entropy? I am still getting my bearings with...

Quick question: Is there going to be an official release of Sabayon_8_amd64_LXDE?

Just curious since I didn't see one on any of the nearby mirrors to me.

Thanks much and keep up the good work.

File/MIME Associations - LXDE & maybe others [Solved]

Greetings, I have been trying to resolve an issue that it seems a few others on these boards have had, so I'm putting what I found here. The issue has been that I would try to open a recently downloaded .PDF file from Chromium, and the system would launch GIMP, which I didn't want. I had installed x...
