Re: Possible to create LiveCD from installed system?

so in other words we are all waiting for someone more qualified to adapt those gentoo scripts to sabayon. +5 And a live system needs compression for the ISO to fit on a DVD. I dont know how to compress an entire partition and still make it mountable with a boot-loader. It seems that only certain th...

Re: Possible to create LiveCD from installed system?

I wish I had the skill level to try that first method. It looks like it could work. Another solution I thought of would be if you could make a tar.gz of your individual apps that require custom settings, like firefox......I mean, is there a reason why you couldnt take a snapshot of your browser with...

Re: Switching from Ubuntu

I also love the Ubuntu community, but I feel like the mods are coming from an ultra authoritarian mindset......I mean the cafe is for general purpose off topic conversation right? I made a post asking if anyone has any tattoos and they locked the thread and gave me an infraction for going outside th...

Re: Switching from Ubuntu

I am just like you. I started with Ubuntu, migrated to Mint, and now Gnome is broken. Gnome in Sabayon is not nearly as badly broken as Gnome in Ubuntu since there is the tripple whammy of the kernel issues before 3.0, the move from Gnome to Gnome3/shell AND the move to Unity......IMO, the move to u...

Re: Possible to create LiveCD from installed system?

I found Unetbootin in the repository. It seems like the installed system is too big though. I went crazy with free apps, but I am at nearly 20gb. Few people will isntall that many apps, but it still seems like it should be compressed a little more. Any other way to get a / system ISO? Maybe from a b...

Re: Possible to create LiveCD from installed system?

I am trying to do the same thing. The problem with making an ISO of the hard drive is first that it wont work as a live session. Second, its not something that can be installed to another computer as a new user with all the settings and customizations of the previous user from which the snap shot ca...

Re: Looking for Derivatives

We are looking at various distros to create a project. However, our vision is a little out of the mainstream, and we are also mostly amateurs who dont know how to maintain our own packages or fix things on a system level. A few of us do, but they have experience with Slackware and I mostly used Mint...

Re: Use Molecule to create your own spin

How would somebody add things like importing a fully customized firefox with bookmarks, addons, extensions, etc? How would somebody get widgets set up for aggregated media that updates in a certain way for everyone using that specific distro/spin? How would you add radio-broadcasts and give all user...

Re: Did something dumb - NVidia install extra(nonworking)Ker

That sounds awesome for advanced users....gives you more choice. GIves you exactly what you want/need. But how about throwing us noobs a bone once in a while? The standard answer is that there is already an Ubuntu.....Well, Ubuntu is taking a direction some of us dont like. Im not even sure I trust ...
