Problem with grub on installation

I downloaded Sabayon 4.0 64-bit to a DVD and checked the md5sums and they matched exactly. All should have been well. I installed it so far 6 times trying various combinations and the install worked just fine and I got the message that the install was successful and I could now reboot. I pressed reb...

I have it installed on Ubuntu 8.10 x64 and it is working great there. Is it in entropy yet?

Creating /home from existing installation

I have installed and been using Sabayon for a while. I just recently added a second hard drive with plenty of room to hold my home files. Currently /home is located within the basic Sabayon installation. How do I go about moving the home files that already exist to a separate partition on this new d...

Notice Board not available

I keep getting this when I run equo update. Is this something I need to do something about or is this just fine as it is. I don't know what it means. What notice board are they talking about and what does it do? :?: :?:

Re: Poor performance (unresponsive, pausing, stuttering etc.)

I have a bunch of distros installed so I went around and checked them out: Sabayon, Bluewhite64 (2 versions), OpenSuse are all 64-bit. Bluewhite64 (essentially Slackware) is +300 FPS over Sabayon and Open Suse is +200 FPS over sabayon. Mandriva, Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Pardus are all 32-bit. Mandriva is +3...

Question on upgrading RAM and install video card

I am going to replace the 1 GB of RAM I have now with 4 GB of RAM and at the same time replace the IGP GMA950 with an ASUS EN9600GT TOP video card. Are there any special things I need to do to SABAYON when I do this? I noticed when I did the Equo update that the Nvidia drivers were injected so I ass...

Re: looking for video card recommendation

Why was the 8800GT better than the 3870? Any special reason or did it just work better with Linux or just work better in general. Lately it seems the 8800GT is close to the price of the ATI cards and also seems to be a better card than the 9600GT this is supposed to be its replacement which is one o...

looking for video card recommendation

I have an intel E4400 core 2 duo with an integrated video card, DDR2 memory, 500 watt PSU, and 1 PCI-E, 1 PCI-e x16 and 2 PCI slots. I am looking to replace that with a better card. I am looking at the ATI 3850 or 3870 and the NVIDIA 8800 GT right now. I was originally looking at the ATI 3650/70 or ...

Problem with ntp.pool

I have been trying to set my time to the ntp pool server and it just doesn't work. I tick the box to set the time by the server, select the North American server in the upper right corner and then click apply. I then get the message that it cannot link to the ntp.pool server. I have tried all the po...

Re: Should Enlightenment replace Metisse as an SL option?

I have now tried E17 on both Ubuntu 32-bit and Sabayon 64-bit and it worked quite well on both. I would vote for E17 over Metisse.
