Re: Software RAID fall apart with each reboot?

I must say that I have never used RAID on gentoo, but can you post your mdadm.conf? You should have a line like this: ARRAY /dev/md0 level=raid1 num-devices=2 devices=/dev/sdb1,/dev/sdc1 with probably other stuff (like UUID). Instead of mdadm --detail --scan > /etc/mdadm.conf try this: mdadm --detai...

Re: emerge of linux-sabayon-2.6.26 for x86_64 fails

Hello, try reemerging/upgrade genkernel (and busybox), because genkernel used to store files it needs at runtime in /usr/portage/distfiles, not a great idea because one should be able to erase the content of the distfiles directory without losing any functionality (see http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bu...

Re: A few Kernel recompile questions...

Notice that, as I was doing a re build of the 2.6.25 kernel in this case, genkernel did not update grub.conf as it already contained an entry for the 2.6.25 kernel. However, if there had been no entry in grub.conf for the 2.6.25 kernel then it would have. Mind you, if you are correct (i.e. emerging...

Re: Blocking Packages...

Try upgrading to the latest device-mapper, I don't have block problems with it and udev-120

Edit: Didn't see your last post. Yes you have to upgrade to sys-fs/device-mapper-1.02.22 or higher first (1.02.22-r5 for stable, or 1.02.25 for unstable).

Re: Blocking Packages...

Hi,

sane stands for "Scanner Access Now Easy", so removing it won't kill your machine, but if you have a scanner set up it may not function properly (or at all...).

Re: Kernel Help

Ok, from what you say it seems to be a problem of the bootloader setup, but looking at it, i can't find anything wrong (provided that the kernel "Sabayon Linux x86 3.5 Standard Edition" boots correctly). Only difference is "dolvm" for kernel compiled using genkernel, and I don't know if you have lvm...

Re: Kernel Help

Have you tried to compile a kernel without the patch for the wireless card and see if it boots? Just to isolate the problem, if it is in the kernel configuration itself, or in the patch.

Re: Is there an easy way to install the w64codecs?

The package is called win32codecs and is in portage.
