Re: How to upgrade few years old installation? Its redownloading lots of packages and after that fail..

Are you still stuck ? You will need to download a lot of packages for sure. You should do a backup of the system (/ /var), do you have other separate partitions. Then I would say update equo. Then make sure you have a lot of space in / and do the migration (you need to install the sabayon-lib-migrat...

Then you need to do some chroot and install grub again There are various help on that, a quick search gave me this page which is more or less what you should do : https://howtoubuntu.org/how-to-repair-r...

The breakage is when library migration do not end properly. If the migration package install goes fine it should be ok.

Re: Upgrade breaks system!

Actually equo itself wasn't doing anything anymore but probably lib migration was running in the background. Check : # ls -lad /usr/lib* /lib* drwxr-xr-x 12 root root 4096 4月 6 11:41 /lib lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 3 3月 17 08:57 /lib32 -> lib drwxr-xr-x 7 root root 12288 4月 6 11:40 /lib64 drwxr-xr-x 103...

Re: upgrade / migration issue

Actually the issue I had was probably the package dependencies and order of the operation. I manage to do the migration by first forcing migration and then do a full update. I would be like : equo install app-misc/symlinks-1.4-r3 app-portage/unsymlink-lib-17 -a equo install sys-apps/sabayon-lib-migr...
