Re: Change your forum, bugzilla and wiki passwords ASAP!

Anonymity is a double-edged sword. Sure we'd all love to not be tracked as we go about our lives, but I'm pretty sure we're happy to pay the price as long as it's someone else who pays it. This is the second attack against a Linux forum that I've heard of in the last couple of days. Pearlinux forum ...

Just downloaded SL 9

Guys - I have to say, you've done a fantastic job. I'm running from a USB stick, and everything is so quick and smooth. This *seems* to be a big improvement over SL8, which I have run in the same way. The new colours and graphics look really very clean and nice too. I've been running another distro ...

Re: Gnome 3.4 updates screwing up KDE...again!!!

I've been seeing issues with sulfur only starting from terminal, and, most recently, icons missing from Firefox, Thunderbird and then Audacity crashing on start up. Reinstalling Pango didn't fix it. I've re-installed 3 times since the beginning of the year, and have concluded I'm probably not up to ...

Re: How processor dependent is SL with KDE?

OK, I've realised this is a damn silly question and the answer is obvious.

Nothing to see here - move along - all sorted. 8)

How processor dependent is SL with KDE? [Solved]

I've been using Sabayon on and off since version 3 and pretty much continuously since 5 as my main OS. The hardware has remained reasonably constant: AMD 3800 2X processor, 4Gb DDR2 5600 RAM, Nvidia 7900GS graphics card, SATA HDDs (currently WD 1Tb drive) and an old Soundblaster PCI card for recordi...

Re: panel question

It should be reasonable possible, I'd have thought - what settings are you offered if you right-click the panel?

Maybe the reason no-one answered is that no-one usually does that with gnome (I use KDE).

Re: Printers and Downloads

HPLIP seems essential for HP printers to work with Sabayon, and it needs to be instaled separately. Odd, because almost every other distro I've used will find and install drivers for printers without any user involvement. Mostly Sabayon seems to work 'out of the box' for me, even though there's some...

Re: KDE issue?

Yes, that was it. The nuisance of re-installing is having to go and make all those changes to get things the way you want them.

Re: KDE issue?

The new install seems quicker than the last - I left this box at work to complete the updates overnight (800+ from a fresh SL8 install without additional software). It's nice using the office connection, as it will do >430kB/sec, which is about double my home connection. I'm now loading in the apps ...

Re: KDE issue?

Well, after a wasted night installing a couple of other distros after W8 it's back to Sabayon. I did try a core CDX minimal install following your directions (thanks) but realised it was going to take some serious investment of time & intellect to get to the point where I feel happy with it. Computi...
