Re: Feedback wanted: Relaunch coming soon

It's still work in progress, right? How to formulate it... the old site is still much better. The title image is somehow big, taking all the screen and the posts or pages are really spartan. It's not clear what this design wants to communicate. Beside that the site has issues scaling properly down o...

Re: Feedback wanted: Relaunch coming soon

The changes should take effect somewhen around Wednesday, 13th June 2018 1:00 AM (CEST). Apparently the changes have not been propagated yet to https://next.sabayon.org/ . I see a different result when I build the site from the master branch. BTW. the instructions in the README do not work for me. ...

Re: Feedback wanted: Relaunch coming soon

Why don't you use something like

Code: Select all

{{ now.Format "2006" }}
in footer.copyright.html to get the current year?

Re: wine 3.6

Even 3.8 is already in Portage, but not 3.9 yet:

Code: Select all

$ eix -c wine-any
[U?] app-emulation/wine-any (2.19(2.19)@12/07/2017 -> (~)2.0-r1(2.0)^t (~)3.6(3.6)^t (~)3.7(3.7)^t (~)3.8(3.8)^t): Free implementation of Windows(tm) on Unix, with optional external patchsets
Emerging it should be fine.

Re: Running out of resources?

What are the apps you run? There has to be some nasty one consuming your thread/file descriptors.
Maybe you'll find your answer here: bash: fork: retry: Resource temporarily unavailable - Limit issue?.

Re: Looking for a new laptop.

"man, this thing was made with Linux in mind." Speaking of this, Dell just introduced new Precision developer editions. Preloaded with Ubuntu and RHEL certified: https://bartongeorge.io/2018/05/24/welcome-the-new-dell-precision-developer-editions/ . I know, people were quite happy with XPS 13 devel...

Re: Running out of resources?

You need to assign more resources to your java application. Try to increase heap size and thread stack size.

Re: Revert to older versoin of a package?

Is there any way, just using equo, to revert to an older version of a package? There's a chance if the older version is still available on https://packages.sabayon.org/ . Specifically, I recently did an upgrade that included www-client/google-chrome going to version 66.0.3359.117. Looking at the pa...

Why not go for some more RAM and run Windows as a virtual machine in VirtualBox or Qemu?
