Broken Titlebar Buttons in Gnome 3

Last night XBMC crashed (froze completely) on me and I ended up forcing my laptop to reboot in order to recover. I now notice that the titlebar buttons look like this: http://s18.postimage.org/ipp8ej3lx/screenshot.png I am assuming that I have broken the close graphic somehow, but have been unable t...

Sabayon Linux Review: A Truly Delicious Flavor Of Linux!

Muktware reviews Sabayon and manages to summarise everything I like about this distro. Especially this: Sabayon's repositories are updated weekly with the latest and greatest packages available. Because all Sabayon packages are built off of Gentoo, all packages available in Gentoo are also availabl...

Re: Boot fails after installation

I have just had exactly the same problem. I fixed it by re-installing the bootloader from the installer.

Re: Laptop Recommendations [Solved]

Thanks for the feedback folks. I ordered a Samsung laptop in the end. as far as I can tell, it's not the best laptop for any specific task but a good enough all-rounder, which is what I'm looking for. And it's cheap ;-)

Re: Laptop Recommendations

That's the ideal, of course, but the trouble is that -- at least in Western Europe -- there are less and less high street stores and more and more people buying their laptops directly from the Internet. Of the seven laptops I have bought since 2000, I bought six on the Internet. And the High Street...

That would be the ideal solution. If a store actually allowed me to do that, they would certainly get my custom.

Re: Laptop Recommendations

I have had four Acer laptops, and three of them have given trouble. The quality of Acer's laptops seems to have deteriorated over the last few years. One of the models has a design fault with a ribbon cable connector in the back of the lid, which causes the screen to flicker. It is fixable, but can...

Re: Laptop Recommendations

Thanks for the Info. I did know to avoid ATI graphics but I was looking at an Acer laptop earlier so your feedback is quite a lot of help.

Laptop Recommendations [Solved]

The screen on my current laptop is starting to fail, so I am beginning to look around for a replacement and I thought I'd try to avoid as much hassle as possible by finding out what hardware other Sabayon users have found to be most painless. The laptop is a general purpose desktop replacement. I'm ...

Re: KDE releases Plasma Active One

I have to say that I have virtually zero interest in iPad-type tablet devices. A multi-touch UI only appeals to me on my Android mobile phone, which fits in my pocket. This pretty much reflects my own view. A tablet is less portable than my phone and less powerful than my laptop - it feels, to me, ...
