Re: I can't search the forum for xorg.conf, so I'm posting here

I switched back to Ubuntu, and had the same problem. I found a simple solution here: http://www.webupd8.org/2009/10/my-upgrade-to-karmic-koala-ubuntu.html. Just run these commands in a terminal rm /etc/X11/xorg.conf nvidia-settings Then save the output to /etc/X11/xorg.conf after you get the desired...

Re: Flash Drive Problems

Hi, Thanks for the reply. I'm using Sabayon 5.1 64 bit AMD with Gnome. I think I may have found the culprit. I was using the Gnome Disk Mounter applet on the panel. I removed that and rebooted, and now I can use the flash drives normally. I'll monitor the situation the next few boots.

Flash Drive Problems [Solved]

The first time I plug in a flash drive during a session, it mounts and I am able to use the drive just fine. However, if I remove the drive and reinsert it later during the session, it does not mount. It continues to show the drive in "places" whether it is plugged in or not. If I try plugging in a ...

Re: I can't search the forum for xorg.conf, so I'm posting here

I took the modeline out of the xorg.conf file, and now it starts up the way I want (1600X1200_75.00), but only if I log in as root. If I login with my user credentials, it defaults back to "auto". I tried running a startup command (Xrandr --output default --mode 1600x1200 --refresh 75) in the Startu...

I can't search the forum for xorg.conf [Solved]

The search engine wouldn't allow a search on xorg.conf, so I'm posting here, although this has likely been covered. I have a Biostar MCP6P M2+ motherboard with onboard GEforce 6150 graphics and an Envision 19" monitor. I've altered the xorg.conf trying to get 1600X1200 resolution at 75Hz, but at sta...

Re: Very new guy here...

If you do any graphics design, you will love The GIMP. It is an open source alternative to Photo Shop, with tons of great plugins. Also, I find the presentation software in OpenOffice far superior to Power Point. Both of these applications are included in the Sabayon DVD.

Re: Gnome Do. What does it do?

I found you can bring it up by holding the windows key then typing space. It also has a docky mode that makes it function similar to wbar. There are also no plugins installed by default, but they are available in Sulfur.

Gnome Do. What does it do? [SOLVED]

When I start up my desktop (SL 5.1 w/ Gnome) I get a box in the center of the screen that says click to type. If I click in there, I see it is a nice little launcher. I looked at the properties and I see it is called Gnome Do. I went to the project home page where it describes it as a quick launcher...

Re: Installed 5.1 64bit. Far from impressed so far.

There is also Porthole which is a GUI interface to Portage. It may have some of the features you are used to with Debian. It should show up if you search for it in Sulfer. I haven't played with it much, but it looks like you have to log on as root to get the best use out of it.

Sabayon XBMC on Original Xbox?

I've recently inherited an original Xbox with a controller and the DVD kit. I haven't looked into this in years, but if I recall correctly there is some kind of hardware modification that has to be made to get a permanent install. I guess I'm just wondering if anyone has Sabayon 5.1 XBMC on an origi...
