Re: Install Failure of Sabayon amd64 5.3

Hello, I have successfully installed 5.3 Gnome version on a SATA HDD, on a motherboard that support RAID. I have used unetbootin to put the iso on a 2G USB stick. You could try this way too. You didn't say anything about the partitioning of your hard drive. I'm sure I could have installed it as wel...

Re: Install Failure of Sabayon amd64 5.3

Your post made me a bit curious but you did not say which Sabayon you are trying to install, so when I got back from a few days break I downloaded both the Gnome and KDE versions (SL5.3 amd64) Thanks to both you guys for replying. As you might suspect from your results, I was using the Gnome versio...

Install Failure of Sabayon amd64 5.3

I just downloaded the 64-bit version of 5.3. The Live CD runs perfectly. I have an nVidia motherboard chipset which the LiveCD recognized. I have two hard drives, an ATA with several partitions I use for Linux installs and a SATA with several partitions that I use for /opt, swap, and data. I tried i...

Re: Conky Weather and Circles Don't Work

Not getting a solution to the above, I went back to Ubuntu Karmic. Now I've just had a fling at Elive Linux, and basically the same problem existed there. I think you're right about lua not included in the distro. When I tried to compile conky in Elive, it said it wanted a new lua .deb than is not a...

Nuts! I searched for "Google Chrome." Evidently Sulfur's search looks only at filenames and not descriptions.

Thanks for setting me straight.

Re: What's the Sabayon 5.1 "Way" of Installing VirtualBox?

Thanks a bunch! This got me going immediately:
PC1 ~ # modprobe vboxdrv
PC1 ~ # update-modules

And to hopefully take care of it in the future, I added this line to /etc/conf.d/modules:
modules="vboxdrv"

Google Chrome in Sabayon? [Solved]

In Ubuntu I've been using mostly Firefox, but I also use Google Chrome to follow its development. Is it possible to run Chrome in Sabayon?

What's the SL 5.1 "Way" of Installing VirtualBox? [Solved]

I used Sulfur to add a VirtualBox package to those already installed by the 5.1Gnome install, so that I now have what you see in the attached screenshot. But when I try to start my Win XP virtual machine that I created in another distro's partition, I get this message: Kernel driver not installed (r...

Conky Weather and Circles Don't Work [Solved]

As part of my trial migration from Ubuntu Karmic to Sabayon, I trying to get Conky working right. The standard text and graphics work fine, but not the weather and circles (see attached Ubuntu screenshot for circles). I have all the Conky files in ~/Conky, and the permissions are the same on both th...
