Re: "video mode not supported"

Maybe you can try some boot parameters (for example "xdriver=[option]"), see here.

Re: USB UPS

You can try this way of describing the path to the device: /dev/bus/usb/005/002 You can find the correct description for your device in the output of "lshal" command. (for example (for my ups): " $ lshal ... ... info.vendor = 'MGE UPS Systems' (string) linux.device_file = '/dev/bus/usb/002/002' (str...

Re: Тhree messages that I can not understand

Well, I did this "experiment"(to merge NUT without the hal USE flag) and now everything looks good, I no longer receive messages that indicate that two drivers are loaded. Maybe if there is no way to configure hal to properly load the driver, would be better the package sys-power/nut to be added to ...

Re: messages logfile >1GB - usb issue?

EDIT: ok, apparently the nvidia module cannot be loaded with the newer kernels. Have you installed the nvidia-drivers for this version of the kernel, that you want to boot? (Note: Every time you install a new version of the Kernel, you must install and drivers for this version, for example: If you'...

Re: messages logfile >1GB - usb issue?

If you have problems with X server then you should look at /var/log/Xorg.0.log file.
On other issues, perhaps the problem is hardware and the message is correctly, root hub really lost power? Maybe you can try some tests? Maybe you should give us some more information about your hardware and devices?

Re: messages logfile >1GB - usb issue?

You can use app-admin/logrotate package to automaticaly "rotates" your log files. This means that you can configure logrotate to archives in a specified time (every day, every week) your logs and create a new empty file. You can set and how long to keep records created. For all options you can read ...

Re: USB UPS

Maybe you should tell us a little more about this software?
Is it a NUT(Network UPS Tools) client? What driver is used for your device?
How you configure the software?
Did you read all the instructions on how to get the software to interact with the device?

Re: Bad experience with pcmanfm-0.9.7

I have one more question: Should I install all the dependencies of the package gvfs? These are: >> ## [N] [sabayonlinux.org] dev-libs/libatasmart-0.16|0 >> ## [N] [sabayonlinux.org] sys-apps/devicekit-disks-009|3 >> ## [N] [sabayonlinux.org] gnome-base/gnome-desktop-2.28.2-r1|0 >> ## [N] [sabayonlin...

Re: USB UPS

I do not know whether this is the best solution, but you can try:

Code: Select all

$ lshal
or install sys-apps/lshw package.

Re: Bad experience with pcmanfm-0.9.7

Well, it looks good, works fast, but I still can not see my devices and it still can not manage the desktop... Оther functions seem to work well.

p.s. can not refresh folder content, can not add additional columns(like <owner> or <permissions>)...
p.s. restarts when adding a bookmark
