Sabayon boots with XDM

Ever since an equo upgrade several weeks ago, Sabayon boots with the display manager XDM, despite the configuration statement DISPLAYMANAGER="kdm" in xdm. I have done a few upgrades since then but the situation has not changed. Can anybody tell me how I get kdm back, please?

Re: "equo install entropy" broke consoleKit

Thanks for the help,
I did the equo update and equo upgrade from a chroot environment off a live dvd.
Then it worked again.

Re: "equo install entropy" broke consoleKit

well I can log into Fluxbox. But for some reason I don't get internet connection there. Many apps which are in the fluxbox menu don't work (eg firefox).
Since I usually don't use fluxbox I am not sure if beeing offline is related to the konsoleKit problem.

"equo install entropy" broke consoleKit [Solved]

Hi, my latest attempt to update/upgrade sabayonlix 64 kde left me unable to log into kde -- again. Since the packed manager icon showed no updates after three days offline (which was odd) I did an "equo update" which took much longer than usual to run through and in the end showed 73 updates includi...

Re: NTFS-partition mounting-error [Solved]

Thank you very much for your swift help Fitzcarraldo.

Nevertheless it would be interesting to know how it comes that mounting NTFS worked before and broke suddenly but possibly after an update.

Doesnt work for me

Hi, neither the script nor the manual approach are working for me. I use a Dell vostro 1510 dualboot and have Vista and Sabayon 5.x 64 KDE installed with default values (except for the boot manager installed on a Linux partition). But Sabayon uses LVM therefore. Two weeks ago, after a rather large s...

Re: KDE returns to login screen [solved]

Thank you carlovar, my sabayon on my notebook suffered from exactly the same symptoms! I reinstalled Sabayon AMD 64 5 KDE four times before I found your solution. I have intel integrated graphics processor gma x 3100 and had no clue what opengl module to set so I tried [1] xorg-x11 and it worked! Th...

Spoofing MAC address permanently

I forgot how to change the ethernet card's MAC address of my notebook permanently in order to connect via my PCs cable modem. configuring my static IP and DNS servers in /etc/conf.d/net works fine but adding: mac_eth0="XY:XY:XY:XY:XY:XY" at the beginning of the script does not work! If I disconnect ...
