Re: ipn w3945 problem just started

Thanks frr the link, but it didn't work. On closer inspection at boot, I'm seeing

ERROR: cannot create pid file /var/run/ipw3945d/ipw3945d.pid

ipn w3945 problem just started

I've had my fully emerge -uDN world version 3.4e up and running for a few weeks with no wireless problems. I've been using NetworkManager, and loving it, and even have vpn setup to work using it. Since the middle of last week, after I boot, I see no wireless devices. I have to run the following: # /...

Re: problem with gnome-main-menu [SOLVED]

Okay, here's what I did:

I created a new user, and sure enough, the gnome-main-menu worked.

I then replaced my ~/.gconfd/ with the one from the new user. That, for some reason, did the trick.

Re: problem with gnome-main-menu

I use the update script that you have mentioned before, but I'll do it manually just to make sure.

Thanks,

problem with gnome-main-menu [Solved]

I'm attempting to setup the gnome desktop on a 3.4e fully emerged -upDN --world. To my surprise, I miss the gnome-main-menu back on this desktop. The kde version works fine, and I'd like to get it to work on gnome too. Anyway, I get this error when I try to add it to the panel: The panel encountered...

you will see it's not
Thanks wolf, so if that's unmasked then glib-2.14.1 should be unmasked as well, correct?

world update trying to emerge package that's masked

Here's something that I'm not understanding, below says that all >=dev-libs/glib-2.14 have been masked. It also says that it's a dependency of x11-libs/pango-1.18.2. However pango-1.18.2 is masked, so how is this happening? I've got gtk+-1.2.10-r12 and gtk+-2.10.14 installed. with gtk+-2.10.14 insta...

Wolfden,
Is the re'emerge stuff easier to do on just a core install?

Why not just install core and then the gnome stuff you want? There's even a gnome-light ebuild in portage.
