Re: Sabayon = best desktop system

Debian: A distribtion without graphical wireless support even in the first DVD and CD should NOT be called desktop or universell distrubtion. Also, they have netinstall on the homepage instead of a KDE live CD. Users who need a netinstall know where to look for it, even if it is deep hidden, they W...

Re: Sabayon freezes without any evident reason

Ya, same problem here too.. still. Havent been able to boot a single release ever since 3.4 loop 3 on my primary Sabayon rig (HP m7580n w/nvidia 7900 + 4G ram). Too bad, so sad. Have tried every trick I can think of - boot options, bios update, etc... No joy! Funny, because it does boot on my newest...

Re: Switched to kubuntu from Sabayon x86_64: No advantage in Ge

.... Now the effective 2+ days we waisted on this has brought us how much closer to a fix for the problem ??? Not at all. We could have spend this time looking for the cure and or trying a few things to get closer to Nirvana ? Does this make sense ? I don't understand your reasoning. For example on...

Re: Switched to kubuntu from Sabayon x86_64: No advantage in Ge

Oops. I also forgot to add in here that each distro's community tends to attract a certain "flavor" of user. Take a gander at the Ubuntu IRC or forums for some insight as to what im talking about here. While all distro's tend to provide varying degree's of support to users, the level provided and to...

Re: Switched to kubuntu from Sabayon x86_64: No advantage in Ge

Wasn't going to reply because this looked like just another one of those "waaaa Portage sux" kinda threads, but it seems to be more about preference than distro bashing. Sabayon is, without any doubt I think now, the very best of the best when it comes to bleeding edge, everything "just works" kind ...

Re: Finally Got Sabayon 3.4e to install on my Desktop Properly!!

xorg is really very simple to change/configure, but its a good point that somehow your 3.4e xorg got foobar'd on install.

Re: Inquirer Review Sabayon

A fair review would be to say that Sabayon lacks any form of an easy update utility that is binary in nature. A good review would say that although Sabayon lacks any form of a reliably comfortable update utility, it uses Portage, which can be configured to run cron jobs for updates (although that st...

Re: Sabayon freezes without any evident reason

Be wary of downgrading NVIDIA drivers as there is a posted security flaw for the older ones that can be easily exploited. 3.4e should not cause freezes with compiz fusion turned off. If it does then IMO downgrade to 3.4a or one of the 3.4 loops as I have done. 3.4e is very very buggy, at least for m...

Re: Inquirer Review Sabayon

The review was quite obviously written by someone who has yet to grow pubic hair. "suckage", "Blows", etc.. My guess is it was probably someone who is part of the PCLos fanboi club as that crowd seems to draw those types like flies to sh%t, and im sure Texstar takes no joy in that either. IMO, just ...
