Re: Lots of missing program icons and shortcuts

Yeah I didn't see the shortcut for virtualbox until I loaded all the modules and followed the information in the wiki. Then it appeared. Is this maybe a 64 bit problem and not a 32 bit problem? Just trying to understand.

Re: Lots of missing program icons and shortcuts

No one? Am I the only one who is driven to utter madness by the lack of proper program shortcuts on many of Sabayon's programs? Last night I reformatted my linux partition and installed Sabayon 8 KDE amd64. The installer mentioned Xonotic, so I thought I'd give it a whirl. Guess what? NO SHORTCUT!!!...

Lots of missing program icons and shortcuts

I've used Sabayon off and on for years, and this is still one of my largest complaints about desktop usability, WHERE ARE MY ICONS AND SHORTCUTS?!?!?!? Every other distribution I use installs a shortcut for every app with a GUI and it's usually the same set of shortcuts in each distribution. Half th...

Re: Quick question about --nodeps

Really? Bummer. Without going into a long rant, I'm concerned with ram consumption and ease of updates mostly. Adding more programs into the mix means programs starting that I don't want that I have to attend to and I don't want a lot of downtime from updating my system weekly. Oh well, no big deal ...

Quick question about --nodeps

I had a quick question about --nodeps in entropy that just popped into my head and I want to make sure I don't screw myself. I'm trying to keep a nice tidy lxde desktop and have started bringing in a few gnome components with --nodeps as needed to fill in a few gaps like user management. Well... it ...

Adding a printer over a network using Samba

I'm currently trying to solve my issues with adding network printers over Samba in Sabayon and just wanted a place to put what I've found so far. Sure you can add a printer manually in cups using the ip address of the printer, but who wants to do that? I use the gnome 3 and lxde wms depending on how...

Suggestion: Add Tapatalk forum android app support

I use tapatalk all the time on my android to browse forums easily. Is there any chance it could be added to the Sabayon forum? I'm sure others would find it very handy.

Re: Hello and some really stupid questions :D

The simple method to uninstall kde (or any other meta) is # equo remove kde-meta --deep. That will remove all packages. Also, since you removed the meta package saying where all the files are, you'll want to do # equo install kde-meta... then do the removal. If there's anything more complicated than...

Re: Sabayon Linux 5.0 GNOME and KDE: Stable release

Update: My Broadcom 4312 drivers are running like a champ now, just add the blacklists listed here: http://bugs.sabayonlinux.org/show_bug.cgi?id=902 So far I am very happy with Sabayon, I'm running the 32 bit kde version on my laptop and it seems very fast and stable. I've managed to install almost ...

Re: new to sabayon relatively comfortable debian/ubuntu user

I just installed Sabayon yesterday, coming from Kubuntu. So far I'm very pleased and impressed. It took me a little bit to set up my wireless on my laptop but after that the whole system just feels more complete and stable. Sabayon 5.0 looks great, best graphics yet. Every package I want is installe...
